About the Institute
The National Institute of Technology Warangal
(NITW), an Institute of National Importance
(formerly known as Regional Engineering College
Warangal, RECW) was established in the year
1959. The institute offers 8 undergraduate
programmes in Engineering and 29 Postgraduate
programmes in Engineering and Sciences. All the
Departments of the institute conduct research
programmes leading to Ph.D. degrees. The institute
was ranked 26 among engineering institutes all over
India and ranked 4 among all NITs by National
Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) approved
by MHRD, GoI, in the year 2019. The Institute is
located on the Hyderabad- Warangal national
highway at a distance of 3km from Kazipet railway
station and 12 km from Warangal railway station. It
is spread over 250 acres and is totally residential
campus.
About the workshop
Additive manufacturing (AM) is a novel and
upcoming technology to fabricate near net
shaped three dimensional objects layer by layer.
It is possible to use different substances for
layering material, including metal powders,
thermoplastics, ceramics, composites, glasses
and concrete. The purpose of the workshop is to
introduce and discuss the basics of AM,
processes, process variables, applications and
latest research trends in AM. The workshop
contains three lectures from eminent
researchers/ academicians.

About the Department
The Department of Metallurgical and Materials
Engineering (MME) was established in the year 1965
and presently offers an Undergraduate program in
MME and two Postgraduate programs with
specialization in Industrial Metallurgy and Materials
Technology. The department also offers Ph.D.
program in cutting edge areas of technology in
metallurgical engineering and materials. The
department is well equipped with state-of-the-art
facilities and has been accredited continuously by
NBA since several years. The department is in
active collaboration with organizations such as
DMRL, ARCI, IGCAR, BARC, BHEL etc. Presently
the department is engaged with research projects
received from DAE-BRNS, DRDO-NRB, ARDB,
SERB, AUSC mission Directorate, etc.
