Obtaining a License

1. Navigate to ualberta.onthehub.com. Register and/or login, and find the MATLAB page under the
Mathematics tab.

2. Add the MATLAB license to your cart and complete the checkout process. You should be met
with an activation code at the end.

Note: If the website claims you are ineligible, please view your account details, go to the Eligibility
tab, and click request additional eligibility. Follow the instructions on screen and try the above
steps to order a MATLAB license again. If this does not resolve your eligibility, contact IST at
ist@ualberta.ca

Download
1. If you do not have a MathWorks account using your school email, create one at
https://www.mathworks.com/mwaccount. Enter your activation code as part of the sign up
process. Skip to step 4.
2. If you do have a MathWorks account using your school email, login and navigate to the license
center: https://www.mathworks.com/licensecenter
3. Click Associate License in the upper right hand corner and enter the Activation Key that you
obtained earlier.

4. Navigate to: http://www.mathworks.com/downloads/web_downloads and download the correct

installer that matches the version and platform of MATLAB you desire.
Install
1. Locate and start the installer:

 Windows: Double-click the installer file you downloaded in the previous step.
 Mac OS X: Double-click the .zip file you downloaded in the previous step. Inside this folder,
double-click InstallForMacOSX to start the installer.
 Linux: Double-click the .zip file you downloaded in the previous step. Inside this folder,
double-click the install file or execute ./install to start the installer.

2. In the MathWorks installer, select Log in with a MathWorks Account and follow the online
instructions.
3. When prompted to do so, select the license you want to use.
4. Select the products you want to download and install.
5. After downloading and installing your products, keep the Activate MATLAB checkbox selected
and click Next.
6. When asked to provide a user name, verify that the displayed name is correct. Continue with the
process until activation is complete.
