Dear Math Coaches and Students,

This has been an unusual year. The pandemic brought disruption to peoples' lives around the world. We
needed to change how we live, how we work, and how we learn. Faced with these challenges, we adapted
and persevered. Schools were thrust into an unplanned experiment in online learning, and I am inspired by
the extra effort that teachers, parents, and students put in to make it work. While we are unable to travel to
China this summer to hold AMT as usual, we are building on the foundation of all of your hard work to adapt
AMT into an online math tournament. On behalf of this summer's AMT Director Team, I would like to invite
you to join us online for the 7th Annual ASDAN Math Tournament on August 16, 2020.

The ASDAN Math Tournament is led by a team of students and alumni from top US universities with deep
experience in organizing math tournaments. AMT directors have written problems for contests such as the
Stanford Math Tournament (SMT), Harvard-MIT Math Tournament (HMMT), Berkeley Math Tournament (BMT),
and the Princeton University Math Competition (PUMaC). Our director team brings together highlights from
each of these contests into a single event that showcases the essence of a US math tournament.

The AMT is not only a math tournament -- it is also a venue for building a stronger global math community.
This year's disruptions make the mission of AMT more important than ever before. We have been isolated
away from each other during this pandemic, but we are not alone. The AMT community is bound by shared
passions and by a shared belief that math is fun. This summer, we will meet to rekindle those connections,
and I hope to see you there.

Why
Choose

Problems
AMT is led by a team of students and alumni from top US universities with
deep experience in organizing math tournaments. It aims to make it suitable
for Chinese students, while retaining the concepts and essence of the major
math competitions.

Team Work
AMT is a team-based competition where participants need to work
collaboratively to solve problems. Students need to form a team of 4-6.

Novel Format
Integrate the essence of various math competitions, such as Team round,
Guts round, Math Challenges, etc., involving students to collaborate and
interact.

Math Social
More than 5000 players from 200 schools have taken part in past 6 years.
They could make lifelong friends with the same interests. These informal
interactions are some of the most valuable experiences from AMT.

High Winning Rate

AMT does not focus on the scores, but more on the different ways to discover
math beauty through this event and stimulate students' interest in math
learning. Therefore, AMT has set a high winning rate of nearly 50%.

Application Advantage
Beneficial for applying science majors in top universities.

Training Before Contest

Provide twice online mock exam and 6 sets of past papers and solutions.
Besides, math challenges will be arranged one week before the official
contest so as to improve the interaction between teams.
Rules
• Language: English
• Team Size: 4-6 students per team
• Form: Online Contest (require computer and mobile equipped with camera)
Note: It is recommended that team members gather together offline to participate in the contest.

Individual Test
Individual round: 80-minute exam consisting of 15 short answer questions, including algebra, geometry, discrete math

Team Test
• Power Round:Proof-based questions will be issued one week before the contest. Please complete and submit
the questions within 2 days.
• Team Round :50-minute exam consisting of 15 short answer questions.
• Guts Round :80-minute team competition with 9 sets of short answer questions. Each set has 3-4 questions.
A team can begin the next problem set only after this team has already completed and submitted the former
problem set. Grading is immediate and scores are posted in real time.

AMT Math Challenge Week

1 Day Competition+1 Week Math Challenge

AMT math challenge, which is an online interaction between the
AMT directors and all participating students to experience the
charm of math and share the fun of learning math, will be held
one week before the competition, from 10am to 12am every day.

Math Challenge Examples

Select 2 players from different teams. let them

answers correctly first stays. Then choose the next
player to match with the player who stays in the
last round. And so on. All players can watch and
experience the speed of the math competition.

This challenge is a warm up for Guts round. By

Guts Round doing the questions and ranking in real time, see

the rate of the correct answerer, and the speed of
answering the questions. After finishing a set of
questions, immediately start the next set of questions.
Experience the collision of speed and wisdom.

This challenge is for those who have already

this challenge, team members not only pay
attention to the math itself, but also increase
the mutual communication between the teams.
