Foreword

This British Standard has been prepared under the direction of the Iron and Steel
Standards Policy Committee. It supersedes BS 751:1959 which is withdrawn.
This revision introduces dimensional tolerances for the first time. It requires the
use of steel in accordance with BS EN 10025 and recognizes quality assurance
requirements and the use of sampling techniques.
Purchasers ordering to this British Standard are advised to specify in their
purchasing contract that the supplier operates a quality system complying with
BS 5750 to ensure to their satisfaction that products claimed to comply with
BS 751 consistently achieve the required level of quality.

Where practicable, this standard aligns with ISO 6305-2:1983 —
Part 1, Unalloyed carbon steel baseplates published by the International
Organization for Standardization (ISO).
A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a
contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application.
Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity
from legal obligations.
