1. Prevent cruelty, alleviate pain, fear and
suffering in animals and to promote a
society based on humane principles.
2. Initiates and leads in the promotion of
animal welfare, and the protection of
all animals
3. PAWS envisions a nation that respects
animals, practices responsible pet
ownership, and protects wildlife.
Anyone can be a member and/or volunteer
Ensuring that Animal Welfare Act is being
observed and obeyed and makes
immediate action on any violations
reported against the said act which
includes consequences/sanctions provided
by the law.
Animals’ welfare. Either those that are in
PAWS’ Shelter/Center or not.
 Protection and the promotion of
humane treatment of all animals.
 PAWS campaigns actively against
dogfights, horsefights and against wild
animals being used for entertainment.
 It has successfully lobbied for the
passage of the Animal Welfare Act in
1998 - the country's first national law
which prohibits cruelty to animals.
 The PAWS Humane Education Team
reaches hundreds of school children of
all ages by conducting school visits
within Metro Manila.
 PAWS conducts the Animal Asia
Foundation's 'Doctor Dog Program in the
Philippines (animal-assisted therapy).
Over 100 visits to hospitals, schools and
institutions have been clocked in by a
handful of volunteer humans and their
dogs since the Program was introduced
in the country in 1998.
