GOVERNMENT, LAW, ECONOMIC AND CULTURAL INFORMATION:

Calcutta has a population of 158.048 Million sentients. The world is governed by

an impersonal Beaureaucracy. The rulers are agencies, isolated from the governed
populations. Several councils, wether equal in power or ranked according to system,
each exercise influence over the government. The authority is divided in 3-ways.
The Legislative branch is the representative authority, Executive and Judicial are
secondary.

The general law level is average. Many infringements will be punished. The Weapons
law level is moderate. No ranged weapons are allowed, but open carrying of blade
weapons is allowed. The Criminal Law level is below average, only capital crimes,
assault and theft will be prosecuted.

Buyer beware, the laws favour the seller. The Civil law level is linient. A well
placed bribe can be helpful. Personal freedom is usually not restricted.

Calcutta has 1 huge Metroplexes with hundreds of Millions of Inhabitants, 5

Metroplexes with tens of Millions of Inhabitants, 7 huge Cities with Millions of
Inhabitants, 9 large Cities with 100K+ Inhabitants, 13 Cities with 10K+
Inhabitants, 16 small Cities with thousands of Inhabitants, 18 Outposts with
hundreds of Inhabitants.

Calcutta is a very important world, with abundant resources and an average labour
force as well as a fantastic infrastructure. The overall efficiency is high. The
world generates 2366 Resource units, which puts it in the 19% Range. The
Homogeneity Rating is 60%, Acceptance reaches 79%, Strangeness is 40%, Symbols =
11. Calcutta is a non aligned world.

STARPORT TYPE A

The port has large, cavernous facilities with plenty of room for expansion.
Calcutta has an immense orbital port, containing passenger terminals, several
hotels and a grand concourse, as well as a freight terminal with a dispersed
logistic base. All freight traffic is handled in orbit, containers are shuttled to
surface destinations. Refined Fuel is available. Starships up to 100 Kt can be
constructed. This port is one of the big crossroads of the spaceways. Hundreds of
Travellers find a temporary home here, either waiting for an interstellar
connection, a shipboard job, or just a working passage to Somewhere Else. The
transient accommodations are more varied than at any smaller port, plenty of luxury
hotel rooms, but also more cheap hostel space. The same is true of shopping; there
are of course more high-end retailers, but also more, and more varied, goods at the
budget shops. Each year 395997 passengers are handled and 22.02 Million tons of
cargo shipped. The system has a high traffic volume.

Docked at the orbital part of the Starport are 24 x Hercules Class cargo
transport (5000 t), 40 x Tukera freighter (3000 t), 60 x Imperialines TI
Transport (2000 t), 46 x Tukera Long Liner (1000 t), 76 x Bloodwell Class
Merchant (1000 t), 46 x Ad Astra Class Liner (600 t), 80 x Far Trader (400 t),
270 x Free Trader (200 t), a total of 642 Starships.

The planetbound part of the port has a double fence, with motion sensors and a
cleared buffer zone with patrolling guards, they are patrolling 24/7. Additional
security measures, PESA AESA, Chem, Radscanner, Densitometer, Biosniffer. The whole
port measures .5 by .5 km. Calcutta hosts a Military Base.

Berthed at the downbelow port are currently 10 x Tukera Long Liner (1000 t), 4 x
Bloodwell Class Merchant (1000 t), 10 x Ad Astra Class Liner (600 t), 12 x Far
Trader (400 t), 90 x Free Trader (200 t), a total of 126 starships.

The following trade goods are usually available : Huge amounts (+6) of Liquor,
Grain, Canned food, Textiles, Polymers, Pharmaceuticals. Above average amounts (+1)
of Wood, Meat, Spices, Fruit, Copper, Tin, Silver, Aluminium. Average amounts of
Clothing, Computers, Entertainment, Recordings, Software. Mediocre amounts (-2) of
Radioactives, Crystals, Gems, Processed Metals, Steel, Special Alloys, Tools,
mechanical parts, Aircraft, ATV, Machine tools, Farm machinery, Documents. Very
small amounts (-4) of Weapons. Tiny amounts (-5) of Artforms.

DAILY freight and passenger amounts:

MAIN ROUTE: Purity (J-1) 27 Kt, 540 P.

FEEDER ROUTE: Hiatt (J-1) 13 Kt, 272 P. Moibeal (J-4) 13 Kt, 130 P. Cerer (J-6)
2739 t, 90 P.

MINOR ROUTE: Lanyard (J-6) 27 t, 3 P. Lysiches (J-5) 273 t, 11 P. Morgan (J-5) 273
t, 9 P. Winewood (J-3) 273 t, 5 P. De Garthe (J-5) 273 t, 8 P. Jasyn (J-5) 1369 t,

TRAFFIC CONTROL, ENCOUNTERS AND REQUIREMENTS

The STARPORT CONTROL Zone covers the physical extent of the starport (on the
surface or in orbit), a 15 km radius around it and up to 15 km above it. This is
followed by the AEROPSPACE Zone. It extends from ground level to 960 km above the
surface. After leaving the planetary atmossphere, control is switched to the
ORBITAL Zone. It extends from the upper limit of the Aerospace Zone to a distance
of 96K kilometers from the planet. Between orbit and jumpoint, traffic control is
again switched, this time to the TRANSITION Zone. It extends from the upper limit
of the ORBITAL Zone to a distance of .96 Million kilometers. It controls ships up
to the event of jump. Traffic control and traffic separation rely on positive
identification, constant tracking and direction of all craft up to the transition
into jump space.

During the flight from the jump point to Calcutta you encounter 1 x Tukera
freighter (3000 t), 5 x Imperialines TI Transport (2000 t), 13 x Tukera Long
Liner (1000 t), 9 x Bloodwell Class Merchant (1000 t), 13 x Ad Astra Class Liner
(600 t), 10 x Far Trader (400 t), 15 x Free Trader (200 t), altogether 66
vessels.

To be cleared for landing, you need a bill of health for crew and passengers and
you need to contact traffic control with your intentions as well as a customs
declaration. You also have to undergo an inspection by a boarding party, an
inspection of your cargo and of passenger/crew manifests with full physical spot
checks.

BUDGET, FLEET AND ARMY

The exchange rate for 1 Imperial CR is 1.18. The military budget in peacetime
amounts to 77.24 Billion local Credits, during conflicts it rises to 80.6 Billion
Credits.

The flagship of the fleet is a Light Battleship of 100.000 t. The worlds annual
naval budget can maintain a fleet of 1 Million Tons. But this amount leaves no room
for repairs or the construction of new ships, so the actual size of the Navy will
be much smaller. The size is further limited by the worlds industrial capacity
which can maintain, repair or construct a maximum amount of 190 Kilotons of ships
at the same time. In addition, the system is protected by 4 TL-13 System Defence
Boats.

The planetary defense consists of 2 Field Armies, alltogether 1200 Battalions.

Counter 2 x [XXXX 5C-12]. 120 of these are mobile Lift Infantry.

TECH LEVEL ( 12 ) :

SCIENCE 12 : Continued elaboration on unified field theory leads to practical

methods for manipulating the strong and weak nuclear forces.

MATERIAL 12 : Gravitic manipulation allows the creation of superdense materials.

Nanotechnology finally becomes practical for industrial applications, although
these are very limited.

ENERGY 12 : Advanced fusion power plants are the backbone of the planetary energy
economy.

COMPUTER / ROBOTICS 14 : Real-time linguistic analysis and translation. Small

computer brains of roughly human intelligence, allowing the construction of
convincing humanoid robots.
TRANSPORTATION 12 : Grav vehicles are the basis for all forms of transportation
(land, sea, air and space). Personal grav belts are available. SPACE 13 : Jump-
drive 3 is available.

PERSONAL WEAPONS 12 : Laser and gauss rifles are the standard infantry weapons,
while plasma rifles (PGMP) enter use for squad support.

HEAVY WEAPONS 12 : Advanced (X-ray) lasers. Full-coverage powered armor. Heavy

artillery includes fusion guns. Nuclear weapons suddenly go into decline with the
appearance of the battlefield nuclear damper.

BIOLOGY 12 : Practical nanosurgery. First brain implants. Partial theory of aging.

MEDICINE 12 : Practical nanosurgery (still too expensive for widespread use).

Partial panimmunity. Neural implants can interface directly with the brain,
treating certain kinds of mental dysfunction. Cheap, reliable clone transplants.

ENVIRONMENTAL 12 : Gravitic support of large buildings. Grav technology allows

stationary floating cities late in the period. Advanced weather control.
Incremental advances in terraforming techniques, advanced ecosystem reconstruction.
