Introduction
Our life is a journey; there are curves and road-bends; a pattern of hello-goodbye-
hello. We wind in and out of each other’s lives, yet each one of us is an instrument
to chisel out each other’s edges to become like gold tested on fire. The first time we
entered the portals of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina, our heart is full of
idealism, hope, eagerness to learn, hands open to establish new relationships, with
a firm conviction in our mind that the education we gained would sustain us to
alleviate poverty, for us to become instruments of hope for our family. But as we
walked on the journey of life with our value-laden education, we came into a
realization that our way of living relies on Christ who has a direct relation to the moral
transformation of the society. We came into consciousness that jolted our awareness
that we need to get ourselves involved. Our education is not really for ourselves, we
belong to a much bigger family, the Church, calling us to serve the LOST, the LEAST,
and the LAST; becoming men and women of prayer. The challenge ahead of us is
great, with the present moral crisis; we are called to integrating action with
contemplation, balancing work and prayer, learning that in suffering, we grow. We
cannot escape from these realities, but stand firm as young Christians to uphold the
Gospel values of truth, justice, peace and integrity of creation. This is our
commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ, to spread the culture of life, be bearers of the
light to the world.

2
The years of sweat and toil within the walls of our dear PLMar have now borne fruits.
It is graduation time. We are gathered here in this Eucharistic celebration to express
our profound gratitude to God for bestowing on us quality education that has
equipped us with knowledge, skills, technology and values to help us find our places
in the world of work and to face more challenging tasks in life. We shall also pray for
our government leaders, administrators, mentors dear parents, relative and friends
who walked with us in our journey. What we have acquired at PLMar are gifts, which
we offer back to God that He may multiply them through us serving our fellowmen.
(Dimaano, 2012)

LITURGY OF THE WORD

FIRST READING - Acts of the Apostles 13:26-33.

When Paul came to Antioch in Pisidia, he said in the synagogue: "My brothers,
children of the family of Abraham, and those others among you who are God-fearing,
to us this word of salvation has been sent.
The inhabitants of Jerusalem and their leaders failed to recognize him, and by
condemning him they fulfilled the oracles of the prophets that are read Sabbath after
Sabbath.
For even though they found no grounds for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to
have him put to death, and when they had accomplished all that was written about
him, they took him down from the tree and placed him in a tomb.

4
But God raised him from the dead, and for many days he appeared to those who had
come up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. These are now his witnesses before the
people.
We ourselves are proclaiming this good news to you that what God promised our
ancestors he has brought to fulfillment for us, their children, by raising up Jesus, as
it is written in the second psalm, 'You are my son; this day I have begotten you.'"
The word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God.

Celebrant: The Lord be with you

ALL: And with your spirit

Celebrant: A Reading from the holy Gospel according to John

ALL: GLORY TO YOU, O LORD.

5
John 14:1-6

Jesus said to his disciples: "Do not let your hearts be troubled.
You have faith in God; have faith also in me.
In my Father's house there are many dwelling places.
If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to
myself, so that where I am you also may be.
Where (I) am going you know the way."
Thomas said to him, "Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we
know the way?"
Jesus said to him, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the
Father except through me."

Prayers of the Faithful

Celebrant: Graduation is both an end and a beginning. It celebrates what

was accomplished and welcomes another stage of life. With God
as our companion, even our weaknesses become a source of
strength. Let us pray for an open heart, that we may discern the
will of the Lord in the challenges that we meet each day. Let us
pray that God may continue to be our guide as we keep on
walking with our life’s journey. And for every petition we pray:
LORD, SUSTAIN US IN YOUR LOVE.
ALL: LORD, SUSTAIN US IN YOUR LOVE.
Graduate 1: That the Church, the People of God, may remain faithful to the
paschal Mystery of Christ, so that the Eucharist may ever become
a communion with Christ and with one another in unity and
loving service. May our priest who are called to serve God and
his people may continue to offer themselves for the
sanctification and strengthening of the believing community. Let
us pray to the Lord.
ALL: LORD, SUSTAIN US IN YOUR LOVE.

6
Government For our government leaders, who by virtue of their position of
Leader: authority are models of integrity, uprightness, honesty,
commitment and purity of heart, may they keep their lives
worthy of being emulated. May their commitment to the truth
which they have initially promised be kept free from the snares
of the evil one. Let us pray to the Lord.
ALL: LORD, SUSTAIN US IN YOUR LOVE.
Parent: This day is made possible through the love and support of our
parents and relatives who have gone out of their way to gift us
with an excellent education from this prestigious University.
Notwithstanding the sacrifice they have to undergo, they
willingly invested their sweat and blood in order to see us
through. May God who is never outdone in graces and generosity
be their eternal reward. Let us pray to the Lord.
ALL: LORD, SUSTAIN US IN YOUR LOVE.
Staff We pray for the support staff and maintenance personnel,
Personnel: who helped and provided us with an environment conducive to
learning. May their example of service instill in our being the
dignity of labor. May they persevere in keeping our University a
home for everyone. Let us pray to the Lord.
ALL: LORD, SUSTAIN US IN YOUR LOVE.
Faculty: May the efforts of our mentors, who patiently taught us the way
of uprightness and excellence bear fruit in the lives of every
graduate. May their presence make the world flow with peace
and harmony. May they be rewarded with good health and
deeper wisdom as they continue their service to this University.
Let us pray to the Lord.
ALL: LORD, SUSTAIN US IN YOUR LOVE.
University For our University Administrators, may they remain faithful to
Official: their vocation of inculcating in every PLMarian the value of life,
care for the earth, national patronage, deep faith and a sense of
gratitude to God. May their apostolate of presence in this locale
be a shining star that leads all those entrusted to their care
towards salvation. May they be more value-laden, who,
following the example of Jesus Christ accept the Lord’s calling to
offer their lives for the service of the Lord. Let us pray to the Lord.
ALL: LORD, SUSTAIN US IN YOUR LOVE.

7
Graduate 2: That the lonely, the poor, the sick and those who suffer may turn
their weakness into strength by joining their suffering with the
cross of Christ for the salvation of the world; that the Lord may
watch over the suffering members of dysfunctional or broken
families, and those who have been led astray by irresponsible
depiction of sexuality. Let us pray to the Lord.
ALL: LORD, SUSTAIN US IN YOUR LOVE.
Celebrant: Lord, You have given us knowledge of faith; hear the prayers of
your people. May they always live the ideals of a true Christian
as you send them to their respective fields of work to carry out
the mission you have entrusted to their care. Keep them always

laud you yet more gloriously, when Christ our Passover has
been sacrificed. For, with the old order destroyed, a
universe cast down is renewed, and integrity of life is
restored to us in Christ. Therefore, overcome with paschal
joy, every land, every people exults in your praise and
even the heavenly Powers, with the angelic hosts, sing
together the unending hymn of your glory, as they
acclaim:

Commentator: Please kneel for the consecration.

10
Consecration:
Celebrant: You are indeed Holy, O Lord, and all you have created rightly gives
you praise, for through your Son our Lord Jesus Christ, by the
power and working of the Holy Spirit, you give life to all things and
make them holy, and you never cease to gather a people to
yourself, so that from the rising of the sun to its setting a pure
sacrifice may be offered to your name.
Therefore, O Lord, we humbly implore you: by the same Spirit
graciously make holy these gifts we have brought to you for
consecration, that they may become the Body and Blood of your
Son our Lord Jesus Christ, at whose command we celebrate these
mysteries.
For on the night he was betrayed he himself took bread, and,
giving you thanks, he said the blessing, broke the bread and gave
it to his disciples, saying: “TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT,
FOR THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU”.
In a similar way when the super was ended, he took the chalice,
and, giving you thanks, he said the blessing, and gave the chalice
to his disciples, saying: “TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM
IT, FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE
NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT, WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT
FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS
IS MEMORY OF ME”.
Let us proclaim the mystery of faith.

respective field of endeavors.
Thus, graduates you may now wear your hoods, symbol of your professional identity.
Graduation Mission Sending
Commentator: Please be seated. We shall now have the Graduation
Mission Sending.
UNIVERSITY REGISTRAR:
In our University, we should aim to develop in our administrators, faculty members,
staff and students, in close coordination with parents, a critical assimilation of
culture. In the school, faith and life should be thoroughly integrated, with Christ at
the center, serving as the supreme value and example, and the criterion against which
all other values must be evaluated and ranked (PCP II, 635).
The school or college is not only a place, but an environment where members of the
administration, the faculty, staff and students help each other, and the parents as
well, to develop into Filipinos who are maka-Diyos, at makabayan, and not makasarili
(PCP II, 636),
Let us ask God for the grace to make us respond to the challenge before us.
Now we shall renew our commitment to the Vision-Mission of Pamantasan ng
Lungsod ng Marikina. The Vision-Mission of our University embodies and
contextualizes the values and aims. May we request all PLMar administrators, faculty,
staff, graduates and students who are present here today to stand and recite the
Vision-Mission of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina. May we also request Mr.
Joselito P. Rivera, our OIC - University President to lead the entire PLMar community
in renewing our commitment to the Vision-Mission of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng
Marikina.
Now we are ready to say our commitment.

17
UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT: (FORMULA OF RECOMMITMENT)

Altogether please…

Mission
The PLMar is committed to produce work-ready, career-focused, and
community-oriented graduates honed through holistic and life-long learning.
