Triangulation System.

(first slide)
-A triangulation system consist of a network of connected triangles which adjoin or overlap each other.
-An object, shape, or arrangement in the form of a pyramid
-A polyhedron of which one face is a polygon of any number of sides, and the other faces are triangles
with a common vertex.

(second slide)
A geometric figure arrangements used to form a triangular system.
 Chain of single and independent triangles.
 Chain of quadrilaterals formed with overlapping triangles.
 Chain of polygons or central-point figures.
 Chain of polygons each with an extra diagonal.

CHAIN OF TRIANGLES.(slide 3)
-is the simplest form of triangulation system since it involves a minimum of angular measurements and
calculations for the amount of area covered.
-This type of a triangulation system does not provide the most accurate results.

CHAIN OF QUADRILATERALS
-is the most commonly used triangulation system.
-A quadrilateral, too, is technically a polygon; and achain of quadrilaterals would be technically a chain
ofpolygons.

CHAIN OF POLYGONS OR CENTRAL -POINT

-is composed of a group of triangles having within it a station which is at a vertex common to all the
triangles.

LESSON 21.
ADJUSTING   A   CHAIN   OF   QUADRI-LATERALS.
-The station adjustment for a chain ofquadrilaterals is the same as that for a chain of triangles.

METHOD OF LEAST SQUARES

-This method is based upon the theory of probability and is one which simultaneously adjust the angular
and linear measurements to make the sum of the squares of the residuals .
-This method may also be employed to trace to their sources the various errors affecting the
measurements and consequently to increase the accuracy of the result by a proper modification of the
methods and instruments used.

APPROXIMATE METHOD.
-This is a simple and convenient method. It is used for adjusting the angles and sides of triangulation
systems whichare of lower orders of precision.

2 STEPS IN ADJUSTMENT IN CHAIN OF TRIANGLES:

 STATION ADJUSTMENT- the objective of this first adjustment is to make the sum of the angles
about each station equal to 360 degrees.
 FIGURE ADJUSTMENT- this adjustment is performed only after the station adjustment, uses the
values obtained in the first adjustment. It requires the sum of the angles for each triangles
should equal to 180 degrees.
