A BRIEF SYNOPSIS
Introduction:
Urban Entertainment Centre (UEC) can be defined as family
oriented entertainment destinations. These centers combine shopping and recreation
with entertainment to form an overall experience. Retail needs entertainment to draw people
in and entertainment needs retail to support the overall operation.
The goal of a UEC for a city or developer is, perhaps, to create tax revenue, or to sell food, or
merchandise, but for the visitor the overriding concept is to have fun.
Entertainment is the draw and a large part of what creates the unique experience of the centre.
The components that, typically, form a UEC are as listed below:
1. Movie halls
2. Restaurants
3. Sports complex
4. Shopping complex
5. Amusement park
6. Walk ways
7. Open plaza

Need for study:


 The purpose of this study will redound to the benefit of society considering that
entertainment plays an important role in order to relax, get excited, and take a break
from the details that make life boring, stressful and annoying.
 Urban entertainment centres are perhaps the largest and latest kind of commercial
development to combine the retail and entertainment industries in one location. It
creates benefits for the wider community and locality by providing an improved urban
environment, infrastructure, service, and livability in terms of urban sustainability.

Aim of the study:


To design an urban entertainment center for all the age group people.
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY:
 To design UEC for all the generations.
 To design multiple recreational spaces at one place by providing movie theaters,
shopping complex, restaurants, karaoke bars, reading rooms, play zones like (parks,
rides, sports), amusement park, landscape.
 To expand the relationship between commercial and recreational places.
 To improve the revenue of the city and social well-being of people.

METHODOLOGY:
The design methodology shall follow the usual process of a design studio as laid out in
previous semesters: a literature study, followed by desktop and case studies ending with a
comparative analysis that will pave the path for the proposed design.

The list of potential studies is given below:


Desktop Studies:
1. Iluma, Bugis, Singapore.
2. Mall of America, Minneapolis.
Case Studies:
1. Entertainment city, Noida.
2. Select city walk, Delhi

SCOPE:
 Establishment of a platform to accomplish goals of social interactions.
 Designing something more appropriate that can better serve for all types of people.
 Help develop tourism.
