IMPACT OF COVID-19 LOCKDOWN

Well nobody in this whole world expected such a devastating pandemic, causing chaos all round the
world so suddenly. With the world wide case over 3 million and over 200 thousand deaths, whole
world is shook by the deadly virus. As the fear of this deadly virus escalates, the cities and countries
are compelled to have emergency lockdown.

On 26 April, the government of Nepal just extended the lockdown till 7 th May to battle the deadly
pandemic. It was quiet necessary to extend the lockdown, in this situation where the cases are rising
in our country. Well, due to this corona virus lockdown it has impacted a lot worldwide. If we talk
about the worldwide economy then it’s affected so much of the lockdown situation. Many
companies, shops, factories etc. are closed as the staffs and the workers are sent home. According
the reports the cumulative loss due to this pandemic will be 9 trillion dollars worldwide. Isn’t it huge
loss?

In our country Nepal, due to the lockdown many peoples are struck in borders of Nepal and India
jobless and homeless. Many peoples especially workers from villages, who are stuck at different
parts of the cities are walking on feet to get to their homes. Those people are hungry from days.
Some generous people provide them foods on the way. How hard lives must have been to those
these days? It really touches heart.

People are allowed to come out of their houses in emergency or to buy some essentials.
Government is acting strictly as we can see people walking unnecessarily in the streets are beaten
up. Only ambulances and the trucks carrying foods and other necessary goods are allowed to run.

Lockdown also has given the chance to be with the family members. Well I can understand that it
might be quiet hard for the extroverts sitting all time in their houses. But still that doesn’t mean that
you can do nothing else. Is it? You do researches study books, novels learn new things from internet,
a lot of those things you know. So one must utilize this time to learn new. Well lockdown is likely to
extend till the vaccine is developed, so I think you shouldn’t waste this time.

Besides all the losses due to corona virus, the air pollution is very much controlled all over the world.
As transportation and many industries and factories are shut, the air is less polluted and fresh to
breathe in crowded cities. Cities like Kathmandu are also being much cleaner as no crowd, less
pollution ultimately. Overall the world’s pollution has been decreasing rapidly due to the lockdown.
Which is quite good from one point of view. Also now people are really aware of the importance of
the health, good habits are developing among peoples as they fear the deadly virus. Habits such as
washing hands, carrying sanitizer, wearing masks, can be seen in almost all the peoples which was
not the case before the pandemic.

The pandemic is increasing rapidly and everyone is hoping that the vaccines will be discovered
sooner. Everyone is sitting in their homes for their own safety and we must support government at
these times and follow their instructions for our own good.
