JOB INTERVIEW

Read the following samples of dialogues showing applying job and distinguish their differences!

DIALOGUE 1
(16-17 lines)

The interviewer : Good morning, Ms. Anderson. How are you today?
Ms. Anderson : Fine, thanks, and you?
The interviewer: I’m fine. Thank you. Please follow me. We will meet in the conference room.
Ms. Anderson : Okay.
The interviewer : So, tell me a little bit about yourself.
Ms. Anderson : Well, my name is Joy Anderson. I’m 27 seven years old, and I’m single.
The interviewer : How would you describe your personality?
Ms. Anderson : I’m hard working, eager to learn. I enjoy working with other people and I love
challenges.
The interviewer : Please tell me about your educational background.
Ms. Anderson : I graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
I also minored in Business Technology.
The interviewer : Can you tell me about your previous job experience, please?
Ms. Anderson : Yes, I graduated from university in 2000 and started working for Sanwa Bank. I’ve
been with Sanwa Bank up to now.
The interviewer : Why are you leaving?
Ms. Anderson : I’m looking for a job with more responsibility, flexibility and better prospect.
The interviewer : Oh, I see. Okay, thank you for coming today and we will inform you later for the next
process.

DIALOGUE 2
(10 lines)

A: Good afternoon. Thank you for the opportunity to interview for this position.
B: Hello, have a seat. I'm Bill Gotcha. I am assuming you found your way here with no trouble?
A: Actually, I am very familiar with the area so there was absolutely no problem.
B: I am curious as to why you want to leave your current employer.
A: I am interested in switching fields.
B: Do you feel that you are exceptionally good at anything in particular?
A: I am good at pulling together teams of people to accomplish a task.
B: What are you not good at?
A: I am impatient with myself at times and am hard on myself.
B: We appreciate hearing that about you!
