Alright, I want to have this conversation because I think it will be interesting, and if I am some how being

bias or not thinking critically, I would like to know. First I will concede my point about the relation
between police motives and gangs as not supported - I thought I read something to that effect a while
ago but I cannot find nor am I certain of its contents. I also am aware that in the case of Floyd it was
more personal. However, my main point is that police violence is a large issue in the United States. You
asked for examples so first as an overview I suggest you watch this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=VEy-xtIQJkA I am aware that some of this footage could have been cut to make the protesters look
like helpless victims and it doesn’t really focus on a particular case. However if even 20% of the clips in
this video are without editing bias it would certainly lend some merit to the idea police brutality is an
issue that needs to be looked at in detail. For specific examples - https://www.snopes.com/fact-
check/apd-medic-tent/ - that time police destroyed a medica tent.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/01/us/politics/trump-st-johns-church-bible.html - the Pres and
police tear gassed peaceful protesters in order to take a picture with a bible in front of a church.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/05/dining/unrest-louisville-david-mcatee.html - police killed a BBQ
owner who fed the police and homeless people police claim he provoked them but that is not in his
personality. https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/buffalo-police-pushed-old-man-said-he-tripped-
because-police-ncna1225881 - the link says it all pretty much. All of these, as well as others are recent
events. We could spend days speaking about unarmed black men and women, and children who were
killed by the police without provocation I can do more research into these cases if need be. Also there is
evidence that police beat their wives more than the general population- while the 40% stat might not be
entirely true the study does suggest an issue with domestic violence, particularly because of the
resources that police have because the mindset of the police to protect their “brothers” these cases do
not have an easy solution. When I talk about racism in America, I am not talking about a few attention-
seeking college students setting up some false flag KKK symbols (though those situations do deserve
investigations certainly). If the deaths you were talking about are true, then I certainly the murders to
find justice. Most protests and protesters are peaceful and while there are certainly people trying to
take advantage of the situation teargassing a group of peaceful protesters because someone a few
blocks down stole a tv is not acceptable. Lastly what did you mean by “ the second the cop got charged/
arrested the protests should have stopped?” Does this sentence not inherently suggest that the only or
at least a significant reason action was taken is because of the public outcry? If so, then are you saying
police getting away with murder is fine if there is not a public outcry? If you think that any form of
justice would have been served with out the protest I really would like to understand your reasoning
and evidence. The protest continued because it wasn’t only about this particular case, but the idea that
justice in police violence cases should not require such a massive outcry, or even happen in the first
place.
