SHORT PAPER TITLE 2

Abstract

This research was conceptualized to analyze the differences between the two of the most popular

types of workouts and which of them is better for calorie & weight loss. Wearable technologies

for weight loss was again the number one trend as it has been since 2016, the only exception was

a drop to number three in 2018. Examples include fitness and activity trackers like those

manufactured by Samsung, Garmin and Apple, depending on it alone won’t help you reap the

full benefits of your workout that’s why this research will help those who want to start working

out but have no clue where to begin. Its main objective is to both educate others while

encouraging them since it’s not easy to keep a steady exercise regimen, others may get lazy

while some might lose their motivation to keep it up. Findings revealed that cardiovascular

exercise is the fastest and the most effective way of losing calories because if you do weights for

30 minutes vs any other types of cardio exercise for the same amount of time depending on the

intensity, cardio will burn more calories. The results have shown that cardiovascular activities

will benefit people in the long run.

SHORT PAPER TITLE 4

1. What is the objective of the study?

To educate and inform everyone, you can’t expect the outdated information to be valid anymore

because we keep innovating each year including our daily routines, our lifestyles and our way of

life, since the world keeps changing constantly, the researchers should conduct their research

according to the present year.

2. What is the importance of the study and how will it contribute or add up to the

existing body of knowledge?

This research is an updated version of the older ones, we will compare every information

gathered from years 2015 to 2019 to have a starting point, we will then delve deep into their

research to find out how they relate the topic for the respective years, we will do the same but we

will add some things to make our research different. For the past several years, people who get

sick due to the lack of physical activities and proper diet leading to scary diseases like diabetes,

cancer and heart disease keeps increasing especially now, mainly because of their unhealthy

lifestyle that’s why this research will not only add up to the existing information, it will also help

others.

3. Who will benefit from your study? How can your beneficiaries benefit from your

study?

Everyone, specifically to those who wants to know how to lose weight and burn calories, they

first need to set a clear goal, do they want to lose weight or gain muscle tone? Maybe they want

to increase their endurance or build bigger muscles, it will serve as their motivation and their

purpose. We researchers have to make sure to only cite and put legitimate information with

factual evidences on our research papers, we will let them know the best exercise to start with so

that way they gained knowledge and at the same time they will know where to start and what

kind of exercise they should do, this research will also benefit those who have heart conditions.

4. How do you make sure your research is ethical?

We will follow the research methods to make sure we’re doing things right, we have to be

careful not to put their dignities in danger we will also as much as possible try to make valid and

legitimate information independently, not relying on information you can find on the Internet.

5. What would you suggest as future research and why?

They should try to find out the possible risks of doing cardio & weights, they should carefully

follow the ethical methods of doing research and most of all, every information should be

according for the respective year, in short they should by all means improve their research with

new information.

6. How did you relate your studies to the existing theories/supporting articles?

We followed some of their methodologies and did things on our own, interviewing people and

knowing their point of view will significantly help to make the research valid, we also compared

the information we gathered from other information online, to know what should we improve

because your research won’t make sense unless there’s something new to add, we will cover the

theories with facts so that people won’t waste their times believing such things.
SHORT PAPER TITLE 6

7. Who are your respondents?

People who work out or a fitness instructor because they have more experience when it comes to

things like exercise and any other physical activities, we can also interview people who does

workouts and people who wants to start working out, we will then accumulate their point of

views and form them into information.

8. Enumerate the detailed step-by-step procedure of making the product?

I cannot answer that question since we don’t need a product to justify our research, I will instead

enumerate the methodology, first, in order to have a topic you should ask a question, after

coming up with a question you will have to research existing sources because you need

something to go on, with enough information you can now conduct your study, just make sure to

follow the ethical methods of making a research you won’t have any problems in the future and

lastly, if you have all the information that’d make your research valid, you can freely reveal the

findings of your research and the results.

9. What is the weakest part of your research? How will you improve your

research?
SHORT PAPER TITLE 7

The fact that we can’t fully explore our study, as a student we have so much limitations, to

improve our research, we will get as many legitimate information as we can to satisfy their basic

curiosity.

10. Scope and Delimitations of the study?

We will only have a total of 50 respondents, since we can’t cover every aspect of the topic and

we’re just students not a doctor, the scope will have to be narrowed down to a certain community

of the target population, we will include certain people as our respondents, we will gather as

many information as we can, it’s important to know other people’s point of view because we will

consult a gym instructor or any physical fitness coaches, we will let them know what other

people think when it comes to cardio vs weightlifting. These would form the delimitations of the

study. We chose Manila as our location for interviewing because there are a lot of people who

don’t have proper physical activity there, it’s also an ideal place to conduct interviews because

there are gyms everywhere, you can easily find people exercising in the morning there, we chose

to study a sample population of 50 people because it’s more than enough, we’re just students, we

also have to think about how much the research will cost us, we can’t just randomly interview

people like informal settlers or little kids or people in the hospital. Our respondents should be 14

years old up to 60 years old because people as early as 10 even 8 can be overweight but we can’t

interview them because that would make the conversation not coherent.

11. What is original about your work?

SHORT PAPER TITLE 8

If we think that people are not satisfied with our work, we could add some information about the

alternative ways of burning calories, and that’s what we did, it’s still related to the topic since

most cardiovascular exercises are aerobic meaning it requires a steady supply of oxygen to the

muscles to perform the activity for example, running, biking and swimming while weightlifting

is anaerobic, meaning it doesn’t require additional oxygen to be taken in by the muscles to move

the body, although some cardio exercises are considered as anaerobic like sprinting because you

don’t need to breathe as much as when you engage in aerobic activities. Flexibility and balance

workouts such as stretching doesn’t directly contribute to your heart’s health however it enables

you to stay flexible and free from joint pain, cramping and other muscular issues. If you have a

good musculoskeletal foundation, it will help you do the exercises that help your heart easily, so

that’s what I think makes our work original, other workout recommendation.

12. In one sentence, what is your thesis?

Finding out which is better for weight and calorie loss, cardiovascular exercise or weightlifting.

Closing comments

I would like to thank my teachers for giving us this opportunity to show our dedication,

perseverance and compassion, you’ve given us an opportunity to develop those things, I’m

forever in your debt and I would also like to thank my co-researchers for making this possible,

they’re very cooperative which made this research easier. And lastly my family and friends,

they’re my motivation, I’d like to show them how much I’ve grown, thank you everyone!
