PAST PRESENT (THÌ QUÁ KHỨ ĐƠN)
I. Khái niệm
- Thì quá khứ đơn diễn tả một sự việc đã xảy ra và kết thúc trong quá khứ, không
còn liên quan đến hiện tại.
- Câu khẳng định là câu kể, dùng để nói về một sự việc ai đó đã làm trong quá khứ.
Chủ ngữ + động từ quá khứ + tân ngữ
(S +Ved + O)
Ví dụ: - I went to Ho Chi Minh City last week.
- He played football yesterday afternoon.

- Câu phủ định dùng để nói về một sự việc ai đó không làm trong quá khứ (câu phủ
định của thì quá khứ sử dụng trợ động từ /did not/ = /didn’t/)
Chủ ngữ + didn’t + động từ nguyên mẫu + tân ngữ
(S + didn’t + V + O)
Ví dụ: - My father didn’t go fishing yesterday.
- They didn’t have dinner at home last night.

- Câu hỏi dùng để hỏi về việc ai đó đã làm gì trong quá khứ. Câu hỏi có 2 dạng
+ Dạng câu hỏi Yes/ No: đặt trợ động từ /Did/ lên trước chủ ngữ và động từ chính của
câu. Câu trả lời sẽ bắt đầu bằng Yes hoặc No
Did + chủ ngữ + động từ nguyên mẫu + tân ngữ?
(Did + S + V + O)
Yes, chủ ngữ + did.
No, chủ ngữ + didn’t.
Ví dụ: - Did she eat chicken yesterday?
Yes, she did./ No, she didn’t.
- Did you watch TV yesterday morning?
Yes, I did./ No, I didn’t.

+ Câu hỏi sử dụng từ để hỏi ‘WH questions’: (What/ Where/ When/ Why/ How…):
đặt từ để hỏi ở đầu câu, sau đó đến trợ động từ /did/, chủ ngữ và động từ chính của câu.
Câu trả lời sẽ là câu khẳng định của thì quá khứ
WH + did + chủ ngữ + động từ nguyên mẫu + tân ngữ?
WH + did + S + V + O?
S + Ved + O.

Bài tập mạo từ /a, an, the/
1. Mạo từ bất định “a/ an”
Định nghĩa: a/ an có thể đứng trước danh từ đếm được số ít (singular noun - là danh
từ chỉ những vật thể, con người, ý niệm ,.. riêng rẽ có thể đếm được ở dạng số ít).
Cả hai đều được sử dụng trong lời nói chung chung hoặc để giới thiệu một điều gì
chưa đề cập đến trước đó.
Ex: A book. Một quyển sách. (Nói chung về sách)
- a đứng trước danh từ bắt đầu bằng một phụ âm (consonant) hoặc một nguyên âm
(vowel) nhưng được phát âm như phụ âm.
Ex: a ruler (cây thước), a pencil (cây bút chì), a pig (con heo), a student (sinh viên),
a one-way street (đường một chiều),...
- an đứng trước danh từ bắt đâu bằng một nguyên âm (a, e, i, o, u)
Ex: an orange (quả cam), an octopus (một con bạch tuộc), an eraser (một cục tẩy)

2. Mạo từ xác định “the”

“The” dùng cho cả danh từ đếm được (số ít lẫn số nhiều) và danh từ không đếm
được.
Ex: The truth (sự thật)
The time (thời gian)
The bicycle (một chiếc xe đạp)
The bicycles (những chiếc xe đạp)
- Mạo từ xác định "the" được dùng trước danh từ để diễn tả một hoặc nhiều người,
vật, sự vật nào đó đã được xác định rồi, nghĩa là người nói và người nghe đều biết
đối tượng được đề cập tới.
- Ex: The book is on the brown desk.
