Normally you download optifine and double click it to install it to the main minecraft launcher. In the
case of people playing this mod via Twitch or Technic launchers after downloading optifine you
simply add the file to the mod folder that is running your RLCRAFT modpack.

https://optifine.net/downloads  (get version 1.12.2 E3)

Step 1: Shelter

The first things you must know about RLCraft is that most of what you
know from Minecraft no longer applies. Also note that in the beginning
you are going to die... a lot!

1. The first thing you must do is find a shelter or find a good place
to make a shelter. This place should include access to water, trees,
gravel, and preferably not a lot of monsters.
2. Finding a village is a great way to start but they are hard to come
by and you will probably die before finding one. Villages have access
to waypoints (Circled in red) which let you teleport from waypoint to
waypoint or recall with a scroll (shown above).
Aquiring tools is much harder than in normal Minecraft. To start out
the player needs to get flint from gravel and sticks from a tree (the
leaves not the wood itself).

1. To break down the flint into flint shard the player must right-click the
top of a hard block with the gravel in their hand.

2. Use a flint shard and a stick to craft a flint knife (shown above).

3. Use the flint knife to cut grass and get plant fiber. Use the plant fiber
to craft plant string (shown above).

4. The string, a stick, and a flint shard can now all be combined into a
flint hatchet (shown above) and the player can now cut down their first
tree.

Step 3: Create a Spawn Point

This is just like normal Minecraft you have to make a bed.

1. Use the wood that you can now mine with the flint hatchet to make
planks. The player cannot just craft them like normal but must place
the log on the ground then right click the top with the hatchet.

2. Find some sheep and get some wool to make a bed. However, do
not die because if you do all your progress will be lost and you will
have to repeat the previous steps. The random spawning stops you
from being able to return to your previous death spot.

*** If you have found a village, look around because there are usually
a lot of beds in houses ***

From here on there is a whole world of RLCraft to explore it is up to

the player to decide what to do next.

Option 1 (Recommended): The player can go fight dungeons to try

and get loot drops as well as the good chests they contain. One of the
best dungeons to start out with is the battle tower (pictured above)
because it is very simple and almost guarantees good loot at the end.

Option 2: The player can try to go mining and set up a better base
more like normal Minecraft. Keep in mind that the player will need to
upgrade their mining level which is explained in the next step.

Option 3 (For more experienced players): The player can explore the
world and try to find new places with waypoints so if they have one
they can be more connected with the rest of the world.

Step 5: Other Things to Note

Useful Menus

1. Within the players inventory they have a skills tab which allows
them to use experience to level up different traits. Leveling up traits
allows for the use of better gear in a certain category. This is a good
thing to keep an eye on leveling up every so often so you do not lose
your experience upon death.
2. The beastiary is another menu that shows information about
different creatures in the game. To find out more about creature the
player must approach them and or kill them. A notification will pop up
in chat when you have gained more knowledge of a species.

Since this is a more realistic version of Minecraft there is a new thirst

bar and temperature gauge.

1. To drink water the player must crouch and right click a source
block, this will however give the player thirst because the water is not
cleaned.
2. The ball in between the health bar and hunger bar is the weather
gauge. If the player is too hot or cold they could develop hypothermia
or hyperthermia which damages the player overtime. To cool off get in
water but to warm up is harder and requires some later game armor
insulation.

Health in RLCraft

1. The player cannot heal to full health normally after being hurt
and must use bandages to heal themselves. Bandages are commonly
dropped from mobs but can be crafted as well. To use better healing
items the magic skill must be upgraded. Each body part must be
healed in order to return to full health and if your head or body take
too much damage you will die instantly regardless of your health bar.
2. Other things to look out for are heart crystals, red dust (not
redstone), and heart capsules. The healing dust can be made into a
heart crystal which can be made into a heart capsule. The crafting
recipe is just 3x3 for both. Heart capsules can be consumed by the
player and permanently upgrade the health bar by one heart.

The world of RLCraft is endless and there are always more things to
discover and do. RLCraft adds in a ton of generated structures to
entertain the player as well as a boatload of new mobs to fight and
befriend. It also introduces a new challenge for players who have
already beaten Minecraft, maybe even countless times. What to do
next is up to you. Your adventure from here on out will not be easy
and you will encounter many challenges. Just remember regardless of
how difficult and frustrating this mod pack may be, it is still meant for
the player to have fun.
Setup for Single Player / Client-side Setup
1. Install Java 64-bit Offline Installer (helps for both Single Player/Client-side and Server-side
setup)

10. Copy game directory, paste to Notepad
11. Click "more options"
12. Copy "JVM Arguments" paste to Notepad
13. Close Minecraft Launcher
14. Open Minecraft Launcher
15. Go to the “Installations” tab in the Minecraft launcher
16. Click "New..."
17. Name it "RLCraft"
18. Change “Version” to the Forge version (release 1.12.2-forge1.12.2-14.23.5.2847) scroll all
the way down!
19. Paste the Game Directory from Notepad
20. Click “more options”
21. Paste JVM arguments from Notepad
22. Edit the JVM arguments for more RAM while playing the game
23. *NOTE* In the beginning of the text where it says “-Xmx4096m -Xms256m” tells the game the
maximum / minimum RAM usage. I changed them to “-Xmx8g -Xms256m” so it will now use a max of
8GB and a min of 256MB. This ensures the game will run smooth. This is also necessary to efficiently
use resource / shader packs with the mod. You can enter in megabytes or gigabytes.
24. Click “Create”
25. Now you no longer have to use the Twitch App. Remember that you’ll have to do this
again if you wish to update the mod to the latest version.
Adding “Optifine” for Performance + Shaders & Resource Packs
1. Open Twitch App
2. Go to “My Modpacks”
3. Go to and right-click “RLCraft”
4. Click "Open Folder"
5. Download Optifine_1.12.2_HD_U_E3.jar
6. Place the downloaded jar file into the "mods" folder
7. Create a folder and name it "shaderpacks"
8. Now that this is all done you can add a resource pack (zip) into "resourcepacks"
 Recommended Resource Pack “Chroma Hills” (download the 1.12 version)
 AND a shader pack (zip) into "shaderpacks"
 Recommended Shader Pack “Sildur’s Shaders” (this one is the medium one, go here to
get a different version if you want more/less quality)
Server Setup Guide
1. Install Java 64-bit Offline Installer if you haven’t already. DO IT OR IT WON’T WORK
2. Navigate to %appdata%\roaming\.minecraft
3. Create a folder and name it “RLCraft Server”
4. Install Minecraft Forge 1.12.2 latest to %appdata%\roaming\.minecraft\RLCraft Server
5. Run the “forge-1.12.2-14.23.5.2847-universal.jar” file so it can download the necessary
files
6. There should now be a “eula.txt” file
7. Open “eula.txt” and change “eula=false” to “eula=true”
8. Save the changes
9. Download the latest RLCraft Server Pack
10. Right-click the file
11. Click “Properties”
12. Check the box at the bottom “Unblock” to ensure everything works on your system
13. Extract the contents of the zip to %appdata%\roaming\.minecraft\RLCraft Server
14. Now open Notepad and paste in: java -Xmx8192m -Xms256m -jar forge-1.12.2-
14.23.5.2847-universal.jar nogui
15. *NOTE* Like earlier explained, the “-Xmx8192m -Xms256m” indicate the maximum and
minimum RAM the server can use. My example here uses a max of 8192MB and a min of 256MB*.
Adjust accordingly, especially if you plan on running a server and playing on the same
machine.*
16. Save this file as “All files” and name it “run.bat”
17. Save it in %appdata%\roaming\.minecraft\RLCraft Server
18. These are all the necessary files to run the server locally. At this point you can run the
server and have your friends join the server or add it manually via your IP address. Double-
click "run.bat" and a command prompt window should open.
19. If you plan on having friends connect to your server over the internet, the best way would
be to port forward port 25565 on your computer and share your Public IP to your friends to
connect. Otherwise, just use “LogMeIn Hamachi” or ZeroTier. Create a network and have
everyone join that network before you try to connect to the game server in Minecraft. If the IP
address from IP config doesn't work/connect for your friends, try the IP address of the
computer the server is running on from Hamachi. This could work (it did for my friend). I
assume this is because local IP address is different. Hamachi might slow everyone's
connection down a bit though...

I hope this helps. I made this after spending HOURS yesterday researching YouTube and Reddit posts for a
CLEAR install guide... This may become outdated so... If I need to makes changes anything let me know. Enjoy
this awesome mod!
EDIT #1: If you get a "Error Launching the game failed!:"
Failed to download file, the file contents differ from what was expected.
Name: jna-4.4.0.jar URL:
https://libraries.minecraft.net/net/java/dev/jna/jna/4.4.0/jna-4.4.0.jar
Filename on disk: jna-4.4.0.jar
Path:
C:\Users\garre\AppData\Roaming.minecraft\libraries\net\java\dev\jna\jna\4.4.0\jna-
4.4.0.jar
Exists: File
Go to the url, download the jar file, and place it in the directory and overwrite the one there. Not sure
why this happens, but this fixes it :)
EDIT #2: To update the mod, use the Twitch app. Right click the mod and update the "mod profile"
to the latest version. Make sure the folder of the instance is still titled "RLCraft" and not something
like "RLCraft (1)." As for the server, I'm not entirely sure, so make a backup. I think you can drag and
drop the files into the RLCraft server folder, but, personally, I just saved my "world" folder, saved the
"run.bat," downloaded the new RLCraft server zip and reinstalled/ran MC Forge 1.12.2.
 Unsure if it's needed but RLCraft comes with Forge 14.23.5.2838
 Download the 2.8.2 server files
 Delete the mods, configs, scripts, structures, resources folders in the existing .minecraft
location. You can also move them out of the folder if you wish to keep them just in case
anything goes wrong.
 Move the folders from the .zip you downloaded into the .minecraft folder. You don't need
to move the files unless you don't want to keep your keybinds.
 If you want a completely fresh install then delete everything except options.txt,
optionsof.txt, optionsshaders.txt, and the saves folder in the .minecraft folder, reinstall
minecraft then do steps 1, 2 and 4. I don't think this would be required, but in case you run
into issues this will get you a fresh install.
