THRU-TUBING
THRU-TUBING INFLATABLE PACKERS

Thru-Tubing Retrievable Packer

Product No. 330-01

DESCRIPTION/APPLICATION:
The Thru-Tubing Retrievable Packer is a remedial and stimulation packer
designed to be run on coiled tubing. This tool provides the ability to
perform selective chemical and acid treatments, cement squeezes, or
testing operations without workover or killing the well. Two basic tool
chassis exist: 2.13" OD (for 2.13" and 2.5" OD packing elements) and 3"
OD (for 3.0" OD and 3.375" OD packing elements).

OPERATION:
The typical tool string consists of a connector, back-pressure valve,
hydraulic disconnect, tubing-end locator, hydraulic running tool, and
packer. After testing the lubricator, the assembly is run in the hole at a
moderate speed to the setting depth. After the setting ball seats, increase
tubing pressure to open the delayed-opening valve to begin inflating the
packing element. After inflating the element, increase pressure until the
ball-seat shears out opening the flow path through the tool. The packer
is now set and treating can begin. To release, pump a ball to the equalizing
seat and equalize across the packer. After equalizing, straight pull will
release the inflation pressure and unset the packer.

FEATURES/BENEFITS:
• New generation inflatable packing element provides high differential
pressure capabilities when set at large expansion ratios. This
permits the tool to pass through the production tubing, set in the
casing below, and perform remedial and stimulation operations.
• All setting, equalizing, and unsetting functions are accomplished
using hydraulic pressure or tension.
• Can be run on coiled or threaded tubing. Coiled tubing compatibility
permits working on “live” wells.
• Emergency hydraulic disconnect in the running tool allows the coiled
tubing to be released from the packer if necessary.
