Information
This bulletin provides information on changes to the optics assembly base and front
shipping lock brackets. The base changes were made to improve manufacturing tooling,
and simplify mounting of the SOP sensor (for 6950) and the optics assembly in the
machine.
When ordering a replacement Optics Assembly Kit, you may receive an Optics Assembly
with the old base or a new base from service parts. To provide everything needed to
Example 1:
You receive a DV5700 or DV5950 or DV6950 Optics Assembly Kit that has the old base:
• If you are replacing an Optics Assembly in a machine that has an old base, none of
the additional parts are needed to install the Optics.
• If you are replacing an Optics Assembly in a machine that has the new base, you will
need to use the Floating Rail (9G3570) and replace the Shipping Lock 9G3598 (for
5700/TX40) OR use Floating Rail (9J0725) and replace the Shipping Lock AG0620 (for
5950/TX55 and 6950/TX65) to install the old base Optics.
Example 2:
You receive a DV5700 or DV5950 or DV6950 Optics Assembly Kit that has the new base:
• If you are replacing an Optics Assembly in a machine that has a new base, none of
the additional parts are needed to install the Optics.
• If you are replacing an Optics Assembly in a machine that has the old base, you will
need to remove the Floating Rail that is already in the machine and replace the
Shipping Lock AH2225 (for 5700/TX40) OR replace the Shipping Lock AG6540 (for
5950/TX55 and 6950/TX65) to install the new base Optics.
NOTE: If the Optics Assembly Kit is setup as an exchange part, also return the Floating
Rail and Shipping Lock parts that were not used, or were replaced, along with the
replaced Optics Assembly.
