Scholarships

 See below for the main scholarships available to international students.


Note that, the scholarships eligibility depends on your undergraduate/graduate
school and year of study. Moreover, depending on the aforementioned
factors, international students may not be eligible for the below scholarships.
Furthermore, the below scholarships target privately financed regular
international students. Consequently, the Japanese Government Scholarship
(Monbukagakusho) students, students that are supported by overseas
governments and students who receive scholarships from scholarship
organizations for their tuition, as well as non-degree research students are not
eligible to apply.
 Scholarship announcements and recommendations for each scholarship are
made not directly by the Scholarship and Financial Assistance section but
through each respective undergraduate/graduate school office following one
of the below methods.
 A. Scholarship Information is posted on the undergraduate/graduate school
bulletin board. Please follow the application requirements and methods of
application indicated.
 B. Undergraduate and graduate schools will select and contact the most
suitable students directly from the group of registrations and notify to
them.
International students, who wish to receive a scholarship, need to fill out
an application entitled“Scholarship Registration Form”(for International

Students) at the time of enrolment, alternatively every April, and submit it
to his or her respective undergraduate/graduate school by the application
deadline. However, please note that submitting the“Scholarship Registration
Form”does not mean you have applied for scholarship. For each scholarship
application procedures, follow the instructions of your respective school office.
 Foreign nationals with the following resident status;“Permanent Resident”,
“Long-term Resident/ teijusha ”,“Spouse of Japanese resident”,“Spouse of
permanent resident”can apply for scholarships in the same way as Japanese
students. In this case there are different application procedures and you do not
need to submit“Scholarship Registration Form”(for International Students).

financial assistance is meant to provide students with technical skills
