INTRODUCTION
Executive Summary

➢ Kelafo town has bout 20,000 population ,out of this number about 10,000 people has
cell phone so they need telecom network for their daily life.(source from wereda admin.)
➢ At Kelafo previously two site found (151621 & 151624).But before two-year tower of
151621 is collapse and site 151621 is out of service .
➢ Currently the only working site is 151624 GSM 900 only and has no DCS layer ,with
configuration of G6/5/5 which is less capacity and do not satisfy network capacity need
for town.
➢ If we increase the working site(151624) configuration, maximum configuration will be
G6/6/6 which also do not satisfy network capacity need for town.

TRAFFIC AND OVER ALL NETWORK STATUS OF KELAFO
WORKING SITE(151624)
➢ Network Coverage and quality of Kelafo town based on drive test

✓ Based on Drive test Network coverage and quality of Kelafo town is good
6
NETWORK CAPACITY OF KELAFO TOWN
➢ Network Capacity status based on drive test

➢ During drive test we find there is high call set up failure on sector three which totally
face toward the Kelafo town customer .
➢ This call set up failure is due to high congestion on site.
7
DETAIL ANALYSIS FOR CALL SET UP FAILURE
• To check further the cause of call set up failure after azimuth of site is adjusted according to planning section suggestion,
we conduct drive test from 6:00AM to 6:30AM(12:00 to 12:30 local time when there is low traffic record at site

Sample DT coverage during low traffic hour Sample DT quality during low traffic hour

Call statistics from DT

KPI KPI in percent Call statistics Count in

number
Call Setup Failure Rate 0% Number of Calls 23
Call Drop Rate 0% Number of Drops 0
Overall Call Success Rate (End to End) 100% Number of Call Setup Failures 0
Handover Success Rate 100%

➢ As we can see from above coverage , quality plot and call statistics of sample DT done during low traffic hour test
shows, the reason for call set up failure is due to high traffic congestion on site during day time and peak hour.

➢Kelafo town site network utilization both in daily maximum and peak hour traffic Utilization
from OSS very high. It need solution.

.
CONT’
➢ As we can see from drive test and oss result, Kelafo site 151624 have capacity problem.
Which affect customer during daytime and peak hour.
➢ To solve this issue it is better to layer DCS antenna on the site.

Layer DSC antenna on the site

➢To layer DCS antenna on the Kelafo site let us search site having DCS antenna with low
traffic and not found in town .
DCS ANTENNA DONOR SITE
➢ Among all site find in the EER BSC 01 ,site SWAP_151061_AC_DG_WL_GU_BSC01RNC.HW.BULA..EER “
is suitable for this. Because it is located least scattered populate area and network coverage of this area
shall be fulfill with GSM 900
➢ Site “SWAP_151061_AC_DG_WL_GU_BSC01RNC.HW.BULA..EER” has two sector DSC layer

✓ With GSM 900 it is possible to full fill network capacity of this area and we can relocate DCS
antenna of the site.

➢ As we can see from above two table traffic on site 151061 DCS layer is less on both daily and
12 peak hour monthly traffic
CONT’
➢ In general it is possible to take over the traffic of DCS layer with the GSM 900 by upgrading the
configuration from G5/3/3 to G6/6/6.
➢ If the configuration is upgrade

➢ If the configuration is upgrade G900 layer can take over the traffic of DCS layer
CONCLUSION

➢ It is possible to relocate the two sector (D1 &D3) DCS layer of site 151061 to Kelafo
town site 151624

➢ Configuration of site 151061 will be upgrade from G5/3/3 to G6/6/6 to take over the
traffic by G900 layer after relocating DCS layer.

➢ Two sector DCS layer relocate from 151061 to Kelafo site 151624 town will be fulfill the
traffic capacity demand of the town

➢ We should satisfy our customer network demand by proper resource relocation for
better network quality and capacity.
