Pascal's law and what device works according to Archimedes' Principle

Students play an educational game. The game is about floating a balloon upwards. When
the balloon hits the hydrogen container, the question pops up. If you answer it correctly, you
collect the hydrogen canister and float upwards again. If you don't answer the question or
you give the wrong answer, you will lose altitude and come down.

Experiment

The aim of the experiment - we build a model of the car braking system.

Items and measuring equipment needed: three syringes (one syringe with a capacity of 5 ml
and two syringes with a capacity of 10 ml), plastic tubing with a tee, colored water.

Schematic picture of the experiment:

Proceedings:

1. Build the layout model as shown in the picture.

2. Fill the syringes and tubing with water so that there are no air bubbles in the resulting
system.

3. Push down on the plunger of the small syringe and watch the plunger movement of the
large syringes.

Worksheet - boys

Experiment

Purpose of the experiment: Building a model of a car lift.

Items needed: Two different diameter syringes (one 5 ml syringe, the other 10 ml syringe),
plastic tubing, colored water.

Schematic picture of the experiment:

Proceedings:

1. Put the tubing on the small syringe, fill it with colored water and remove it from the
syringe.

2. Deflate the syringes (by pushing the plunger in).

3. Suck 1 ml of water into the syringes, making sure that no air bubbles appear in the water.

4. Connect both syringes with tubing.

5. Press down on the plunger of the large syringe and watch the plunger of the smaller
syringe move.

6. Press down on the plunger of the small syringe and watch the plunger of the larger
syringe move.

7. In which case is it easier to move the liquid in the syringes?

Please record the experiment by taking a photo (videos are also welcome) and send it in via
the "homework" panel on the e-register, the deadline for the task is May 21 st, 2020.
