Report on the work of the

Preschool and Early School Education Team.

There are several subject teams in Primary School No. 13 in Zawiercie.
In order to improve the quality of the school's work, all teachers working
in pre-school classes and in grades 1-3 belong to the preschool and
early school education team.
The work of the team is managed by the head of the team appointed by
the headmaster of the school.
There are 13 teachers in our team.
The main task of the team is to share knowledge and experience. At the
beginning of each school year, the team leader prepares and presents to
the school management a work plan for a given school year. During the
school year, team members meet 4-5 times, and meetings can be held
more often if necessary.
Teachers share tasks resulting from the School Work Plan, e.g. persons
responsible for preparing pre-school and school celebrations are
assigned. We also discuss cooperation with the Small Student
Government and plan activities for a given school year.
Team members constantly deepen their knowledge, participate in various
forms of professional development at school as well as outside school,
and during team meetings they share the knowledge they have acquired.
In addition, during our meetings, teachers give papers, the subject of
which is determined at the beginning of the school year.
As part of professional development, team members also conduct peer
and open lessons, and after they are conducted, they are discussed.
We exchange observations on the functioning of our students on an
ongoing basis, share their successes, but also discuss their didactic or
educational problems and think about their solution. After each semester,
during the team meeting, we discuss the functioning of our class teams,
we exchange observations about the work of students who receive very
good academic results, as well as those who have problems with
learning or behavior. Together we think about what can be done to
improve the functioning of students.
During team meetings, we also discuss the results of diagnoses of
students starting the first grade and students finishing the third grade.
The diagnosis covers issues in the field of Polish, Maths and Science
education. Then we develop conclusions for further work. The tutors who
carried out the diagnoses in a given school year prepare aggregate
results and present them at the meeting of the staff meeting.
In pre-school departments, diagnoses are also carried out in the group of
3, 4, 5 and 6-year-olds, and their results are presented at a team
meeting.
The task of the team is also to get acquainted with publishing news. The
team gets acquainted with the proposed textbooks and exercise
materials and decides on their selection together.
Team members try to constantly search for interesting working methods
and exchange ideas. We try to use various types of activating methods.
During the classes, we use the method of show and presentation, task
stations, didactic games - board and online, brainstorming, practical
exercises, especially useful in math classes (playing shop, clock
calculations using clocks, measuring liquids, etc.).
Pupils also have the opportunity to play chess or cards. Coding classes
with the use of a special mat and classes based on the math fairy tale
technique are very popular among students. In addition, we also use a
problem-solving method that has a large impact on the understanding
process. Lego Maths classes are also very interesting for students.
Each classroom is adapted to the needs of children and is equipped with
a multimedia whiteboard or interactive TV set. Thanks to this, teachers
can use various multimedia tools during the lesson. These include,
among others, multibooks that contain interesting materials for lessons,
educational games and activities, programs and applications supporting
the learning process, e-learning platforms, multimedia presentations and
websites in accordance with the subject of our classes.
Team work is a very important factor in enhancing the knowledge of
teachers and improving their work skills. Thanks to the exchange of
experiences and working methods, we better direct our activities and
plan our further development.
A summary of the team's work takes place after each half-year. Then the
team leader prepares a report on the team's activities and presents it
during the Staff meeting.
