Advertising Production

Still energy drinks ads - mood board ideas/ analysing
Conventions:
● They all use a dark base background and male associated colours like green and blue (dominant masculine
colours).
● They suggest that there are magic ingredients inside that will give to an edge over others and will make you
more powerful.
● Not only does it suggest there are magic ingredients but also it makes you feel like you will be unique if you
buy it.
● They make it seem like the advert is addressing you personally by saying things like “stay ahead of the
game” and someone staring directly at you.
● Strong and powerful slogans so that it can motivate and grab your attention.

Inspiration for my advert/ what I think makes a good advert

I am going to base my advert around energy drinks. What I

am going to try and show is that by drinking this energy
drink it will give you some sort of competitive advantage
over others. However I am also going to add a slight hint of
humor in the moving ad, the reason for this is because from
doing some research online I have seen that ads that have a
bit of humor in them tend to be more popular and more
people will see them. This is important because the more
people that see your product and like it, the more sales you
are likely to get. One energy drink companies ads that I like
is Powerade, I am going to take some inspiration of their
ads and implement parts in mine. The ads combine both
humor and ‘magical ingredients’ to make a very popular ads
that have helped the company grow even bigger. There is
one of the examples of their ads that I like.
Moving energy drink ads - ideas

My ideal moving advert will have to keep people

interested and grab their attention. I will do this by
addressing the people as if I was talking to them
directly, for example I could say something like ‘Do
you want to be better than the rest?’ Another way I
could keep people's attention is by adding certain
types of music and/or sound affects to create a
certain mood. The conventions of moving energy
drink ads is pretty much the exact same as still ads,
but moving ads will capitalise on using music or
sound effects. Another thing that moving ads will use
as well is big and bold slogans, one company that
does this very well is Red Bull, they instead go for an
iconic slogan that is known all around the world ‘Red
Bull gives you wings’.
Mindmap
Of my
Ideas

Since I will be
making both a still
and moving ad I
may not have the
exact same ideas
for both, also while
we are in lockdown
I may have to do
one of the ads. So I
will have to think of
a way to get round
this so the ad is up
to a good standard.
Target Audience
● I will try and target as wide an audience as possible but I believe that most will be from will be
from the ages of 13-35. The reason for this is because this is when I believe people this is the
age bracket where people are taking part in sports activities like a football team. So because of
my product being an energy drink it would make people this age interested in my product. This
is not to say that any other age groups don't take part but this is where it is mostly found.
● For gender I think that any person may want my product, but I believe it will mostly be men.
The reason for this is the use of dominant colours like blue and black which men are usually
associated to these kind of colours.
● The social economic background of my product will be
mixed. This is because I want to target as wide an
audience as possible. I will do this by making the
product affordable to target people at the D/E of the
hierarchy. I will also target people at the C1 to A bracket
by saying how it is a high quality product that can give
you ultimate performance.
● Overall, my aspirations are to be a brand that can target
a wide audience while still being a high quality and
performance brand that can elevate your performance.
Planning drawing and sheet for my Magazine Ad
Planning drawing and sheet for my Billboard Ad
Some shots of when there is no
moon but I have a camera that
picks up light very well as this
was shot at 8pm. Once there is
a full moon I will take more
shots and compare to see which
one is best and what I could
take away from both shots. Also
I decided not to do certain
things like glow sticks as they
didn’t look very good in the
shot. Once I have got my final
shot I will make sure that when I
am editing them that I made the
product stick out. Also I will add
a powerful and strong slogan to
catch attention and also intrest
people. Finally these photos
made the sky look blue which is
perfect for my brand as it’s
colours are blue and black.
Some shots from my billboard
ad and my social media
banner, I decided to make the
product glow as much as
possible to stand out. Also I
used the same images for
both adverts as they both
have similar needs, e.g. they
need to show the product and
also stand out.
Logo, Slogan and Brand name ideas
Brand name

● Boost
● Charged
● Elite

Slogan

● Dominate the competition

● Exceed expectations
● Strive to success
● Drink it, live it
● Elevate your performance
Logo, Slogan, and Brand Name
I went for the Brand name charged as I thought that it matched the theme of
my product (energy drink) and also it is a short and snappy name that is easy
to remember.

The logo features a lightning bolt due to it representing you getting charged as
lightning is very powerful and has a very big charge. Also it is the kind of a
iconic logo as people recognise what it is instantly instead of trying to find out.

Finally, the slogan which took me a while to come up with. I chose it because it
is a very catchy slogan to remember as when I was researching a good brand
has a catchy and easy to remember slogan like Red Bull “Gives you wings”.
