(Calculus- Thomas/Finney (9ed), Page-95, Ex-1.5)

#. Discuss the limits and continuity of the following function at the respective points:

(Calculus-Thomas 9ed, Page-104, Chap-01, Practice Ex.)

a.
b.

at the points x = ─1, 0. at the points x = ─1, 0.

#.
Derivatives and Tangent & Normal Lines:

# Using definition of derivatives find the derivatives of f (x) = x3 ─x with respect to x. Then the equation of tangent
line and normal line to the graph of f (x) at x =1.

# Using definition, find the derivatives of f ( x )= √ x and use it to find the slope of the tangent line and normal line
to y= √ x at x = 9 . Also find their equations at x = 9.

# Using definition, find ' ( x ) , then find the tangent and normal line to the graph of y=f (x ) at x=a.
