General Maintenance

GENERAL
Routine preventive maintenance will enable early detection of most problems that may
arise. Periodic dismantling of the Pump and Thrust Chamber for inspection is not
necessary unless there is reason to suspect excessive wear or other internal damage. If
problems such as vibration, corrosion, or leaks from the Pump or Thrust Chamber should
develop, contact Borets Canada for prompt service and repair.

Replacement of the Motor or Thrust Chamber requires careful realignment of the

components to ensure maximum run life. Movement or repositioning of the HPS should
be followed by leveling the unit to proper specifications.
Monitoring of the HPS performance is recommended to establish maintenance
requirements. A schedule should be established for periodic recording of the operating
parameters.

In Service Checks – Check on a regular basis

 Integrity of the HPS Skid, Pump, and Motor.
 Piping for evidence of leakage due to loosening.
 Instrumentation and wiring for possible damage.
 Drain and refill the lubricating oil of the Thrust Chamber
 Mechanical Seal for minimal leakage
 Auxiliary equipment

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE & LUBRICATION

Lubrication should be completed as part of a planned maintenance schedule.

PUMP
 Disassembly of the Pump should not be undertaken on site. The Pump should be
returned to a Borets Canada repair facility for repair as special tools and
knowledge are required to disassemble the Pump. The Pump is lubricated by the
fluid going through it and requires no periodic maintenance.

THRUST CHAMBER
 The Thrust Chamber oil should be drained and changed every three (3) months.
Borets Canada special oil is recommended (Synthetic SH-46) See the
Recommended Spare Parts Listing in this section.

MOTOR
 Refer to the motor tag and or the motor manual

COUPLING
 Lubrication is required for Motor Coupling. Please refer to the Recommended
Spare Parts Listing and the Coupling information in this section.

TROUBLE-SHOOTING
The following chart lists most of the problems that can be encountered during HPS
operation, probable causes, and recommended remedies.
