STEP1: Backwashing

 The backwash step is the first step of the resin bed regeneration sequence. Backwash water enters
the mix bed at the bottom through the backwash inlet valve (open XV-12810) and flows upward. The
resin bed is expanded and cleaned as the backwash water flows through the bed and exits the
vessel through the backwash outlet valve (open XV-12806). During the backwash the cation and
anion resins are separated due to their different specific weight (density). After the end of the
backwash set timer the total resin will be separated in two parts, cation resin at the bottom and anion
resin on top. The Flow rate required for backwash shall be set during by throttling the manual valve
upstream of Backwash inlet valve from MB Feed Header (XV-12701).

 Backwash Flow could be observed on FT-12701

 After backwashing there should be a timer for 2 minutes before continuing to the Step2.
