Name of the experiment:

a. Study the conversion efficiency and the figure of merit in a Class A amplifier with dc current
flowing through the load.
b. Study the characteristics of a complementary symmetry push-pull amplifier.

Task 1: Class A Amplifier

[C1=10uF, CE=2200pF, R1=15K, RL=470, RE=100, R2=3.3K]

QnA:
1. Draw a single stage class A amplifier and multistage class A amplifier (as shown in hardware).

2. Compare and comment on the results between hardware results and software simulation results.

Task 2: CLASS B AMPLIFIER:
The basic circuit used for the study of the PUSH-PULL amplifier in complementary symmetry is the
one shown below:

i. Design a class B output stage amplifier using a load resistance of 8 ohm, input sine wave
signal of 17.9 V peak and 1 KHz frequency and 23 V power supplies. Perform a transient
analysis simulation over the interval 0 ms to 3 ms.

ii. Show the load voltage waveform and load current waveform.

2
iii. Find out the peak voltage amplitude and peak current amplitude.

iv. Find out the crossover distortion region in the waveforms.

v. Show the instantaneous and average power dissipated in the load resistance. [Use negative
value of the current.]

vi. Show the voltage waveform of the positive supply +Vcc.
