Experiment#16

To perform counterboring on drilling

machine
Objective;
to perform countersinking on a
plate

Theory
counterboring is used to produce a hole that enlarges another coaxial
hole, or the tool used to create that feature. A counterbore hole is
typically used when a fastener, such as a socket head cap screw, is
required to sit flush with or below the level of a workpiece's surface.
Whereas a counterbore is a flat-bottomed enlargement of a smaller
coaxial hole, a countersink is a conical enlargement of such.
A spotface often takes the form of a very shallow counterbore.
As mentioned above, the cutters that produce counterbores are often
also called counterbores; sometimes, to avoid ambiguity, the
term counterbore cutter is used instead.

Apparatus;
: Drilling
machine, Drill bit, scriber, steel rule, dot
punch, Ball peen hammer, Anvil, Drilling machine vice, Drill chuck

Procedure;
 prepare the workpiece
 draw dimensions to workpiece by using scriber and
steel rule
 using a dot punch.punch the point
 select the correct size of drill bit for counterboring
 fix drill chuck to drilling machine
 workpiece is fixed rigidly on drilling machine
 switch on drilling machine and drill the punch carefully

Conclusion;
hence the required counterboring is produce in
the workpiece.
