discharge. Education of the new mother & family includes newborn care such as bathing,
umbilical cord care, circumcision, care seat safety, ect.

Potential Complications Nursing Interventions

-hemorrhage -administer oxytocin to prevent hemorrhage
-shock -check vitals 15 min X4
-infection -BUBBLE (breasts, uterus, bowel, bladder,
-cold stress lochia, episiotomy)
-hypoglycemia -education
-daily weight
-administer newborn medications: hep B,
erythromycin, vitamin K
-warm baby slowly 2-4 hrs
-clear secretions: mouth then nose
