ACTIVITY 7 – PRESENT SIMPLE – READING SKILLS

1. Read the text and conjugate the verbs in brackets according to the subject of the
sentence in present simple. Don’t forget that sometimes verbs need “s – es - ies”
and when you see the negative particle “not”, you have to conjugate the verb in
a negative form.

Mathew __has___ (have) a very hectic life. First, he has three jobs. In the morning he
__works___ (work) as a teacher in a school, in the afternoon as a taxi driver and at night
as a singer. Mathew _____wakes up__ (wake up) at 4 am, he takes___ (take) a shower,
_gets____ (get) dressed and __goes__ (go) to school. He __ does't __have__ (not have)
time for breakfast at home so he _has___ (have) breakfast at school. Mathew
___teaches_ (teach) 5th grade. He __enjoy__ (enjoy) working with children and kids

don't want (not want) that his classes finish.

At 12:30 Mathew always _has_ (have) lunch with his coworkers. Sophia and Elisa

__help___ (help) him with work stuff when it _are_ (be) necessary. Also, they sometimes

Mathew _belongs__ (belong) to a rock band with his friends Mike and Jack; at night the

_sings__ (sing) for two hours, he _doesn’t stay__ (not stay) longer, he just _shares__
(share) some jokes and a beer with them before going back home; Jack and Mike _don’t

(listen) to the other bands and _drink_ (drink) some shots of vodka.

Mathew’s wife _is (be) pregnant, so she __waits_ (wait) for him to have dinner together,
she _does’t like_ (not like) to eat alone, when Mathew arrives__ (arrive) home, they _talk_
(talk) about their daily activities and _watch__ (watch) TV. Moreover, they _contemplate
(contemplate) the idea that Mathew __quit_ (quit) to two of his jobs soon; she _wants_
(want) that he spend__ (spend) more time at home with her and the future baby.

 2. Write a short text of 10 lines about your daily routine in present simple.

_ I get up at 8 o'clock, then have coffee for

breakfast.
I brush my teeth, get dressed later.
I see what work I have pending the sena, I
start classes at 5 pm sharp.
I always have lunch at 1 o'clock and have
dinner at 8 o'clock at night, I wash the dishes
and clean the kitchen

3. Record an audio with your own voice saying the routine that you
