 PROJECT DESCRIPTION

o TITLE
 FACE RECOGNITION MONITORING SYSTEM
o EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
 The advance of the technology is immersed towards quality of work. The
presence of technology has reached its maximum providing sustainable
technology towards quality of work through delivery and effective service.
The following is a proposal for a Face Recognition Monitoring System that
will notify every parent if their children come to school through SMS. Our
goal is to have a convenient way of monitoring the children if they come
to school or not. By having this kind of system, it will also give a security
feature like CCTV that will record continuously.
 The project involves both hardware and software development. In the
hardware part, we must buy a high definition camera to have a high-
quality record that will utilize the system. The software part will involve
the developing a face recognition application for detecting and
recognizing of every child’s faces that will pass through camera and will
immediately notify the parent through SMS. In addition, there must be
database that will save the arrival time and departure time of the children.
 The detection and recognition capability are 95% accurate, and fast
enough to detect multiple faces every second in fast motion scenarios.
 Testing will be done in continuously and in stages. We will first buy and
test the hardware for the compatibility of the software and the quality.
The second stage will be to integrate algorithm with detection and
recognition to have accurate output. The final stage will be to incorporate
face recognition software that will scan and detect every children and
parents will be notify.
 The system could lead to future projects involving more extensive
recognizing and detection. Face recognition monitoring platform will be
also an excellent for utilizing way of monitoring and could lead to high
precision security system.
o PROJECT OBJECTIVES
 General Objectives
 The objective of the project is to develop a Face Recognition
Monitoring System with SMS notification. The main goal is to have
a high accuracy and precision and when detecting and recognizing
faces.
 Specific Objectives
 Our objective is to have an accurate detection and recognition of
faces utilizing high quality cameras (CCTV) that will be use for the
system and immediately send SMS notification to the parent as
soon as the system detects and recognize their children. This
project is for the school and parents for security purposes, the
cameras will be placed in the main gate where the children are
entering. Having this project will heighten the security of a certain
especially to those places where too many children that makes the
parents less worry.
 To measure the objective of the project we need to check first the
recommended hardware specification for system unit and cameras
to utilize the main system project. We are aiming to have the
accuracy of detection and recognition level reaches to 90 - 95%
and the numbers of face detected is more than 10 for every
second by achieving this progress will guarantee the successful of
the project.
 Our project team is consisting of highly experience programmers
that well fitted to the current project. Our programmers are also
experienced this kind of project giving a 99% success rate of the
project. As long we have the requirements, recommended
specification and resources the success of the project will be
guarantee.
 We are in technological era a lot of places like company, house,
school etc. are using a technology in terms of security to be more
convenient to the user and strengthen the security. Since our goal
is to have a high security, we are adopting the technological
security that highly recommended by others that will surely
effective.
 Our project team will ensure to finish the project with a minimum
of 6 months and maximum of 1 year of development with right
resources and requirements.

 Scope Statement.
 Project justification
o The purpose of the project is to have a better security
through technology, it is not just monitoring system that
let the parents know if their child is already at school it can
also use as security camera for the entire school. There’s a
medium risk in terms of security because having a personal
guard throughout the school is not enough to be consider
as secure place. Even though there is a decrease in overall
violence rate, school violence is still widely spread
especially among the students. A known result of exposure
to violence at school is a negative impact on the students’
sense of safety (Brown, 2006), which considered to be one
of the most important aspects of students’ mental
wellbeing (Pebly & Sastry, 2004).
o As society faces increased threats regarding school
violence, the types of organizations that are now at risk are
changing. Years ago, people would not believe that
children could be attacked while in the safety of their
school (Chappell & Di Martino, 2006). “Just a few decades
ago, the very notion that children would be murdered in
their schools by other children was unthinkable” (Ruffini,
2006, p. 159). The results of this project may provide
insight into teachers and parents perceptions of safety in
currently assumed low-risk environments such as libraries,
school playgrounds and school canteens, which are other
environments that are typically considered safe by the
general public. With the changes regarding what schools
are at-risk, understanding teachers and parents’
perceptions of safety is beneficial to head of the school
because safety concerns have the potential to impact both
the professional and personal needs of teachers.
o Since this project will be implemented in school, the effect
of the project is giving a better security for the students
and the workers or the teachers of the schools. Decreasing
of physical violence of the students because of the active
CCTV cameras that will immediately recognize or captures
the faces. It can also serve as monitoring because it makes
the response of the guard faster if there’s unpleasant event
occurred that captured by the CCTV cameras.
o Because of this project it can also open to a new feature
like attendance system, using DTR or biometric is our
cultural way of writing attendance by using new
technology like face recognition system, attendance is
more convenient there’s no need to write any DTR or scan
your finger for biometric the face recognition will do the
work. It can also open for object recognition that detects if
there is an object and recognize what is that object is, like
for example, the system can recognize the image of car,
bike, animals, human and other objects that captures by
camera. By having this kind of features in the future will a
big impact in terms of security.
o This project will solve the problem of high – risk physical
violence inside the school which is the primary cause of
accidents, the problems regarding to monitoring of every
students that go inside and out of the school. It helps the
parents to worry less because of the SMS notification
feature that will notify the parents about the status of their
children if they already come to school or not. It will also
solve the problem regarding the late response time of
every respondent in case of emergency.
o Our community now a days is not safe there will be always
a chance for accidents or unpleasant events and because
of this kind of problems especially inside the school it will
affect the community. All the unpleasant event that occurs
inside the school like physical violence, kidnapping, holdup
can also be done in the community. To avoid this kind of
problem, first we need a technology like the proposed
project that will guarantee the safety of the community
and prevent unpleasant events especially the school where
many children or students are.

 Statement of What Determines Project Success
o The product should be cost – effective.
 Considering the product brand to be use.
 Product technical support.
 Product utilization.
 Product quality.
o The product should have met the quality standards of a
CCTV.
 Motion Sensing: Rather than recording 24-7, which
can quickly fill up a local drive, with motion sensing,
you can pause recording until something moves in
the frame.
 Field of view: The viewing angle will determine
where you position the cameras and exactly how
much they can see at a time.
 Video quality: Most modern security cameras offer
at least 720p resolution, and many even offer as
high as 1080p for recording and streaming.
 Power source: Most security cameras simply plug
into a standard outlet, meaning they can be placed
practically anywhere, so long as you have a long
enough extension cord.
 Low-light or infrared mode: Low-light cameras use
image intensifiers to amplify very small amounts of
ambient (visible) light and create a significantly
brighter image with discernible details.
o The Face Recognition Monitoring System should develop
at least six months and maximum of one year:
 The system should be developed by at least five
programmers to finish the project inside the time
frame.
 The project should have consistent resources.
o The stakeholders should benefit the project.
 The project should have proper reports regarding
to development progress of the project.
 The project should deliver the tangible and non –
tangible results.
 Conducting training after the project
o Project stakeholders’ satisfactions.
 The project should meet the quality standard given
by the stakeholders and the project manager
 The project should undergo series of testing for
quality assurance
