POLICY

Intent and Definition of Crisis Management


Intent - The most important consideration in both Crisis Management and Safe
Schools’ efforts is the health, safety and welfare of the Employees and Staff of BARQ
Group.

Definition - Crisis Management is that part of our approach to safety which focuses
more narrowly on a time-limited, problem-focused intervention to identify, confront
and resolve the crisis, restore equilibrium, and support appropriate adaptive
responses.

Policy Statement
BARQ Group Crisis Management Plan operates within the framework of BG policy.

Definitions
 Crisis is any sudden, generally unanticipated event that profoundly and
negatively affects a significant segment of the BG employees and often involves
serious injury or death of a employee, Staff member, or a member of a staff’s
immediate family by suicide, substance abuse, illness, or accident. The
management shall have the authority to determine what a crisis incident is and to
convene the Crisis Management Team.
 Critical incidents shall include, but not limited to, situations involving threats of
harm to employees, personnel, or facilities. Critical incidents include natural
disasters, fire, use of weapons/explosives, and the taking of hostages. Such
incidents require an interagency response involving law enforcement and/or
Emergency Services Agencies.
 Crisis Management Team (CMT): A group who has the knowledge and skills to
act in any emergency and shall include the core members who takes the
responsibility to ensure the safety of employees and other company assets.
 OHRT: Off Hours Response Team

Responsibilities
The Crisis Response Team, under the direction of the management, is responsible for
the following:
 Describe and carrying out procedures for dealing with crises and critical
incidents.
 Describe a framework for identifying, referring, and intervening with students
identified as at risk for any destructive behaviors.
 Orienting staff to procedures and training to fulfill designated roles, including
conducting drills.
 Providing information to staff and employees on Crisis Management referral
procedures.

 Providing assistance during a crisis in accordance with predefined roles;
providing follow- up activities.
 Evaluate and critique, at the conclusion of each crisis episode, the effectiveness
of the building’s Crisis Management Plan.
 Conducting periodic reviews and up-dating of the Crisis Management Plan;
conducting related updated staff training.

Crisis Teams and Impacts

Teams:
Crisis Response Team (CRT)

1. Main Team members (to be defined by management) they will have the main role.

II. Emergency Kits


An Emergency Kit is a portable box that contains some items and tools that will be needed in
crisis and emergency situations. It contains also some important information such as written
procedures for an emergency or disaster. BG shall have the following types of Emergency Kits:

On site Kits (Locations shall be defined, where it should be placed everywhere)

1. Emergency Aid Bags and First Aid Supplies


2. Emergency Numbers Lists
3. Employee Lists
4. Emergency Map
5. Crisis Response Plan
6. Emergency Reset Procedures
7. Casualty Tags
III. General Lockdown Procedure

A lockdown means no one is allowed in and no one is allowed out. If a crisis happens that
requires lockdown staff will not be permitted to leave the office and off-duty Staff members
are not allowed in. Doors are locked and staff must follow the directives of crisis team
personnel. Procedures include:
1. An emergency lockdown (or shelter-in-place) will be announced by the Crisis Response
Team through one of the communication ways mentioned earlier.
2. If a situation that may require an emergency lockdown is discovered, the individual
making the discovery shall immediately contact anyone of the Crisis response team.
3. Response Team and provide as much information as possible.
4. Fire evacuation alarms should not be sounded.
