From Cinema halls to Online Movies

So, what was the last movie you watched? Did you book your tickets for that? Or did you stream it
online? While many must have agreed to the latter, there is a reason for this sudden attack on the
cinematic drift that has continued for decades. Remember the time when going to the movies was
considered to be a considerably great deal and used to be a weekend recreation for most of the
families? The luxury of watching movies was only confined to the fortifications of the cinema halls (if you
could afford it). However, it has altered now, as the evolution of online movies has posed a major
menace to movie halls and theatres altogether.

How was it back then?

Cinema was never a static force and technology has always been affecting the cinema halls each second.
Cinema has seen short films in trend, has experienced silent movies rolling in the theatres and has
progressively walked towards the era of projectors as the films played over the screens for viewers. As
the sand slipped through the glass of the clock, we saw cinema get out of the cinema halls, as we
witnessed the entry of innumerable home cinema devices into the market. We experienced
technologies like VHS on our diurnal television. In no time Laser-Disc, DVDs and Blu-ray had their own
designations in the cinema industry.

The Evolution

Film industry since those times has seen something new as each year passed by. Technicolor
advancements, sound manipulation, the perfect balance of continuity and visual effects took over the
film industry by blizzard as now we have CGIs, IMAX and 3D making way in the cinema technology. With
all these progressions, a question still was not answered…

Why only on a big screen?

With the hasty shift of the economic paradigm, the viewers happened to shift their approach of
watching movies too. They now had the authority to watch, or more precisely, stream their favourite
movies at the comfort of their home recliner, unlike the traditional trend. Earlier, they were asked to get
out of their homes and drive to the cinema halls with pockets full of notes, ready to pop out, unlike now,
as the only things these online movies ask from the consumers is a streaming device and an operational
Internet connection. Additionally, the overall cost of streaming includes the mere cost of subscription.

Are they doing better?

Online movie streaming giants have been relentlessly bringing quality content to the viewers with new
cinematic melodies and with excellent theatre artists. They have occupied the industry quicker than
their counterparts and in quite a few cases, have bypassed these giants altogether. Moreover, with the
aggregate a person used to pay for a single movie in a cinema hall, could be bought a whole library of
entertainment and much more, with the consumer still saving some bucks for homemade popcorns!

With the quality of content in the world of online movies being extensively tantalizing with time, it is
safe to say that the future of the Cinema industry is in safe and rather superior hands altogether.
