Preface

The purpose of this report is to explain what I learnt during my


internship period at Dunya News. My tenure of internship was a great
source of inspiration for me.
My report focuses primarily on HR working environment, successes and
observations that I noticed during my internship. I gained experience and
confidence of handling different tasks during this period.
It was a great opportunity for me to work in this news channel as this
channel is in a process of progression.

Acknowledgment

All prays and thanks to Allah who is the supreme beneficent and
authority knowing the ultimate realities underlines all phenomena going

on this universe, blessed me to fulfill this task and achieves the goals of
my life.
I would say thank to Mr. Moazam Ijaz who gave me the chance to go
and work at this workplace from where I got to learn a lot.
I would especially like to thank Mr. Tasneem Arif HR officer at Dunya
news TV. General Manager and all the concerning staff for their great
support and guidance throughout my internship. And all the other
persons for their absolute support, co-operation and encouragement that
they extended to me from the very first day
I would like to acknowledge the support of my parents as I could not be

able to achieve such a level of experience without their oral and logistic
support.

History

Dunya News began transmission in 2008.The channel is known for a


centre-right news policy orientation which mirrors the majority of socio-
political-economic views of the Pakistani people. However at the same
time the channel is known for an unbiased approach towards news, and
(unlike some competitors) has stayed away from serious controversy.
Poor channel Dunya News is known for quality programming, and relies
upon veritable heavy-weights of Pakistani media to settle its position as
a reputable media outlet. Dunya News is home to Pakistan's two most
popular satirical news programs, Dunya News is home to Pakistan's two
most popular satirical news programs, Hasb-e-Haal, and Mazaak Raat.
Hasb-e-Haal has been a ratings hit for the channel, with the deft, often
bitingly subtle comedy of actor Sohail Ahmed resonating with a large

audience. Mazaaq Raat consists of an ensemble cast and is hosted
by Vasay Chaudhry. It is shot in front of a live studio audience. As of
August 2015, it is home to the show Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath,
hosted by the veteran journalist Kamran Khan (currently President and
Editor-in-Chief of Dunya Media Group).

Introduction

Dunya News is a 24 hours Urdu language news and current affairs


television channel from Pakistan. Dunya News was founded and is
owned by Pakistani businessman and politician Mian Amer Mahmood,
and is part of the larger Punjab Group of Colleges (PGC) group of
universities, colleges and organizations. This channel compete with the
top news channels of Pakistan like GEO NEWS, Express or ARY
because Dunya News has got a different policy which is based on
journalism. They have concern with the other cities or countries in their
news. Pakistan’s first ever Dunya TV channel on satellite focusing on
news, views, current affairs, local weather, traffic update, events,
happenings, sports, music, films etc the newest addition to the roaring
media boom in Pakistan. Dunya News is a news media company owned
and operated by the National Communication Services (SMC-Pvt)
Limited incorporated in Pakistan under Companies Ordinance. Its head
office is situated in Lahore, Pakistan and has bureau offices and satellite
presence in several areas across the country and abroad.

I had following objectives during my internship at Dunya News.
 To gain the experience in professional environment.
 To understand the working environment of Human Resource and
Management of this News Channel.
 To experience all the essentials of HR.

Mission statement of Dunya News


The stated mission of the Dunya is to inform, educate and entertain and
the main area in which organization deals is the news events, incidents,
social issues and although money is also raised through commercial
activities such as sale of merchandise and programming.

Vision of Dunya News


Vision of Dunya is to provide:
 Planners with a much needed regionally focused organized
medium for spreading their message to a specified audience.
 A platform to show regional activities in addition to the regular

Human resources is exactly it says resources for humans within the


workplace! Its main objective is to meet the organizational needs of the
company it represents and the needs of the people hired by that
company. In short, it is the hub of the organization serving as a liaison
between all concerned. Depending on the size of the company, the HR

department might be called personnel with a manageable workforce that
can be handled by a personnel manager and a small staff. For larger,
more complex organizations with hundreds of departments and
divisions, the task is much more demanding, taking on a life of its own.

Recruitment process is a process of identifying the jobs vacancy,


analyzing the job requirements, reviewing applications, screening,
shortlisting and selecting the right candidate. Recruitment
process is the first step in creating a powerful resource base.
Dunya News focuses the new employees of organization. It is very
important or every organization.

 Training and development

 Dunya news is any attempt to improve current or future employee


performance by increasing an employee's ability to perform
through learning, usually by changing the employee's attitude or
increasing his or her skills and knowledge. Dunya News focuses
on employee development programmed will typically consist of
any number of different training courses.  The idea being that they
are provided with every opportunity to advance far beyond their
current confines, by developing the attitude and acumen to

progress.  Employees at the very bottom of the ladder receive
training to get things off the ground, while those higher-ups take
part in development programmers to reach more senior positions.

 Compensation

Dunya News provides payments like bonuses, profit sharing, overtime


pay, recognition rewards and sales commission, etc.  Dunya News can
also include non-monetary perks like a company-paid car, company-
paid housing and stock opportunities.
Morale and job satisfaction are affected by compensation. Often there is
a balance (equity) that must be reached between the monetary value the
employer is willing to pay and the sentiments of worth felt be the
employee. In an attempt to save money, employers may opt to freeze
salaries or salary levels at the expense of satisfaction and morale.
Conversely, an employer wishing to reduce employee turnover may
seek to increase salaries and salary levels.

 Performance Appraisal

A performance appraisal is a regular review of an employee's


job performance and overall contribution to a company. Also known as
an annual review, performance review or evaluation, or
employee appraisal, a performance appraisal evaluates an employee's
skills, achievements, and growth or lack thereof. A performance
appraisal, also referred to as a performance review, performance
evaluation (career) development discussion, or employee appraisal is a
method by which the job performance of an employee is documented
and evaluated. Performance appraisals are a part of career development.

 Employee welfare

Dunya News provides employee welfare entails everything from
services, facilities and benefits that are provided or done by an employer
for the advantage or comfort of an employee. It is undertaken in order to
motivate employees and raise the productivity levels.

Dunya News focuses the punctuality to the employees. If someone late


in office the HR Department written and deducted the salary of
employees, Punctuality demonstrates your willingness to get up early,
plan and make every effort to complete your work on
time. Punctuality is a sign of professionalism and helps you stand out as
a reliable and trustworthy employee. ... Being punctual helps you
establish your reputation as a dependable and consistent worker.
Punctuality affect of an organization, Employees or staff who are
habitually late, affect the effectiveness of the whole organization.
Habitual lateness can lead to resentment among co-workers or
employees who are late may miss important information. All of this has
a negative impact on the company's productivity.

Conclusion

Dunya is a well reputed news organization. The


organizational structure of Dunya is well-brought-up. This
internship has given me a chance to explore the real
professional way of working HR in a channel. The staff was
very helpful and friendly, which made the working
environment adaptive and pleasant. I took a deep interest in
observing how employees in Dunya work together to
overcome challenging situations. I learned a lot which will
prove to be a guide line in coming life. . In my concluding
