Plagiarism

Consider it or not, from the tip of our fingers, we surf the web and find ourselves

stepping into a new battleground. The worldwide internet expands daily with information in

which can be reliable, accessible, and a quick source. However, the internet is made up of many

foes, invading privacy, inappropriate images, and false news. Students can face challenges while

accessing any type of sources through the web still, one of the biggest encounters is the fact that

teacher are eager to stop Plagiarism. Because it’s bound to happen, even if it is intentional or by

accident. So, the problem isn’t the internet but students not feeling the urge of taking part in the

writing process. (Gabriel, 2010). From this view, we can simply say that many students can find

writing as a difficult challenge and can only be enhanced by suitable practice.

Plagiarism can be influenced through difficult situation like not feeling compelled to

write. Some educators have found this as a common situation therefore, Potash believed that if

an educator can structure their works and assignments differently than this wouldn’t be a

problem (Potash, 2019). For example, if the students are assigned a writing prompt, the best

method would be allowing the students to use prior knowledge before accessing any source of

information thru the internet or books. By encouraging activities like using graphic designer, the

schemas within the student will began to trigger and re-familiarize information that the student

already knows. Thus, the student will be able to use their own words in order to connect the

prompt to real life situation and write key ideas. This is one great step to preventing plagiarism

and becoming a better problem solver in writing.

Of course, when it comes to college work, it can be more of a challenge. However, this

can easily be solved by constant practice on writing and citing works correctly. In conclusion,

Writer implies that one of the greatest confusion that happens to high school student, who come

out to college are confronted with question that constitutes common knowledge therefore does

not require credit (Writer, 2020). A lot of the research that older student face is what they have

already recognized, personal opinion, and just basic evidence. So evidently, it’s not the student’s

best interest to plagiarism in college especially, if an educator is using websites like TURNITIN.

This software helps revised the paper and checks for plagiarism and honestly it isn’t a bad idea to

use approaches like this. In my opinion, I find that a lot of the plagiarism happens because a

student doesn’t want to write and possibly have writers block so it would be the best interest for

the teacher to help the student to break that barrier and to practice more writing.
