Equipped with the passion,

knowledge, and skills, the ICT team of Ungos

National High School held its first 1-day ICT
training-workshop on June 5, 2019. The training
focuses on new trends and applications available
online and offline. This event is part of the UNHS COMputer Skills Enhancement Program or COMSEP and
as support to the provision of Microsoft Office 365 accounts to all DepEd employees. The event was held
in Ungos NHS covered court and began at exactly 8:00 in
the morning.

In the first presentation, Mr. Nick Rinen highlights

the advantage of Office 365 over the other office
application. He then explained how to avail the office365
freely by just using a valid DepEd email account. As he
made a walkthrough, the participants got the knowledge
about the many features of office 365 which cannot be
found in other office application. Sir Nick Rinen also added
that in order to install the office 365, other office Mr. Nick Rinen while discussing his topic

After being empowered by the new knowledge in office365, the attendees took the opportunity
to listen to Mr. William Inte, a Master Teacher and SHS ICT Coordinator of Ungos National High School as
he began discussing series of important topics in ICT. He
emphasized the difference between an offline and
online setup and application in his basic and advanced
network presentation. An impressive demonstration of
how an IPWebcam can be used in the classroom
together with the laptop caught the interest of the
attendees. WebEx online application was also tackled
as an important tool in an online video conference.
From setting up a meeting schedule to the distribution
of WebEx link, attendees got relevant knowledge and
skills about video conference online. Mr. Inte also

Microsoft Educator Community. He introduced its many features and contents that could help
participants experience new learning style through online training and resources while being recognized
by Microsoft with its badges and certificates.
Mrs. Rhona Ordinado, the Junior High
School ICT Coordinator came in next. She spoke
about office.com. The very interesting part of her
presentation was about her demonstration of the
Microsoft word online immersive reader.
Through this, the reading ability of the learners
can enhance little by little from pronunciation to
the word identification and definition. She also
discussed the sway, an online presentation tool
that is easier to use than a PowerPoint and can be
used to create a collaborative presentation from
different online participants. The flipgrid is also
part of her expertise. After her demonstration, he

video of introducing their self using flipgrid video
recording. The chosen video will be awarded with giveaways and will have the opportunity to be displayed
on a widescreen projector.

After the presentation of the flipgrid video output, Mr. William Inte introduced the OneNote
Optical Character Recognition. A significant demonstration he made on how to convert the text from a
picture file using OneNote application became an attention-grabber to the participants. Office Mix as an
add-on application for the PowerPoint was also part of his presentation. He underscores its applicability
in crafting learning materials in video format. He also added some important tricks on how to do the
portrait and landscape orientation in same MSWord
document to avoid the neck-breaking view of the
submitted softcopy of the document either in word
or in pdf (portable document format).

Mrs. Jaicelle Taniegra, the school organ

adviser spoke next. She tackled on the use of the
publisher in designing a newsletter. Different styles
that can be applied were shown and she clearly
demonstrated the techniques in adding photos
using this application. Furthermore, she gave some

right now" and the proper way of identifying the main
person in the photo.

Being a cheerful speaker and always vibrant

makes the participants still listen attentively to the
presentation of the last speaker, Mr. Elmer Potes, a
Master Teacher 1 of Ungos National High School.
Though the participants seem tired for almost seven
hours of training, still they managed to extremely
show their interest to Mr. Potes Photoshop
presentation and demonstration as he discussed to
them how to do the basic tarpaulin layout. Mr. Elmer Potes as he begins explaining the
photoshop tools and canvas.
While the school head, Mrs. Yoleny R.
Portales is attending MANCOM, still he managed to observe and update herself with what is happening
during that day because of the CCTV camera installed in the school vicinity. This initiative of the school
head makes the whole school community more secured, helps in keeping a watch on the punctuality of
all teachers, and in monitoring and keeping track of activities taking place in school premises.

Overall, this one whole day successful ICT seminar/workshop is a pretty good representation of
who UNHS teachers are and how they will become in the next days, months, or years. As they exhibit their
willingness, cooperation, and dedication in learning new things, we believe teachers in Ungos NHS Main
Campus is now confidently equipped with the right knowledge and skills to face the challenge of the 21st-
century education.
