THE BIG PLUS SIGN (+) IS THE CONNECTOR.

In English, we call that connector a CONJUNCTION.

A dependent clause cannot stand alone as a
complete sentence, even if it has a subject and a
verb. It is an incomplete sentence.

An independent clause is a complete sentence.

A dependent clause is preceded (before) by a

SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTION, that acts as its
connector.

This can be words such as;

While
Eventhough
Although
Before
After
Etc.
How can you use compound or complex sentences to
show cause and effect?

Examples

Compound Sentence:
1. Elize sings well, so she always participates in talent
competitions at school.
