The energy consumption analysis and data sheets are as per the Energy Conservation Building Codes 2009 / Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
Following are the methods proposed for the project achieving the same.
External lighting is assumed to be 5 kW. 100% of the external lighting is proposed on solar. which results in 100% saving in consumption.(For
1
calculation details refer Annexure-A)
All lifts are proposed on VFD drives & star rated and also 50% of total load is connected with solar power, which results in 77.13% saving in
2
consumption.(For calculation details refer Annexure - B)
All pumps are proposed on VFD drives & star rated and also 50% of total load is connected with solar power, which results in 92.59% saving in
3
consumption.(For calculation details refer Annexure - C)
All internal common area lightings are proposed to work on high energy efficient lamps (CFL & LED) as specified in bureau of energy
efficiency, which again results in saving in general consumption. The LPD is working less than 10W/ m2 but still achieving the required LUX for
4
ambient lighting. 100% of lighting load is connected with solar power, which results in 100% saving in consumption. (For calculation details
refer Annexure-D)
All the flats in the Apartment are proposed with centralised heat generator system, which results 98.91% savings in power consumption. (For
5
calculation details refere Annexure E)
Also total lighting to be proposed on 30% stages operation with automatic switch on and timer based. Also presence and photo sensors are
6
proposed at critical junctions.

E ENERGY REQUIREMENT FOR GENERATING HOT WATER FOR APARTMENTS (All floors) Annexure-E
The energy necessary to heat water is determined by the specific heat of water :
C water = 1 calorie / gm º C = 4186 J/Kg º C = 1 BTU/ 1b º F
( Note : The design of hot water supply system and its appliances shall be based on the temperatures at which water is normally required for the various
uses, namely:
Scalding 65º C
Sink 60º C )
Considering the typical water heater of 75 liters capacity (= 165 pounds, 75 kg, 75 litres). The typical heating range will be taken to be from 25ºC to 60 ºC
The energy required to heat the water can be determined from the specific heat relationship.
Q = cmÄT
The energy required to heat one 75 litres of water over the specified range is then
(4186 J/Kg ºC) (75 Kg ) (60 º C – 25º C) = 10.99million Joules.
Since a 1 kilowatt-hour is 3.6 million Joules, the energy amounts to about 3.05 kWh of electricity.
Thus to heat 75 litres of water to 60º C is 3.05 KWh
For 6900 Litres of hot water requirement which has to be stored and heated at 60º C, requires 280.6 kWh is required per day, considering heat generating
system (Maximum of 4kw power is required per hour for 4 hours/day) power requires only 16kwh per day.
The energy required per annum for conventional heater system = 101016 kWh (units)
The energy required per annum for heat generator system = 5760 kWh (units)
