The teacher will be giving sets of command that the students must follow.
The commands are listed below:
Simon say,
1. Clap hands
2. Inhale-exhale
3. Blink eyes (3 times)
4. Jump (3 times)
5. Stay still
6. Shake your hands
7. Stomp your left foot (3 times)
8. Turn around
9. Move your hips
10. Sit
The kinetic energy of an object is the energy that it possesses due to its
motion.
The word kinetic comes from the Greek word kinetikos, which means
moving.
Examples of kinetic energy are as follows:
A truck travelling down the road
A river flowing
An asteroid falling towards earth is very large.
Kinetic Energy can also be represented mathematically:
KE = ½mv²
Kinetic energy is directly proportional to the mass of the object and to
the square of its velocity: KE = 1/2mv².
If the mass has units of kilograms and the velocity of meters per
second, the kinetic energy has units of kilograms-meters squared per
second squared.
Remember that doubling the mass in the formula would double the
Kinetic Energy.
Doubling the speed would quadruple the Kinetic Energy, since Kinetic
Energy is proportional to the square of an object’s speed.
Group activity: Charades
Number of Groups: 2
Span of the Actual Activity: Three (3) minutes for each group
The students will be grouped into two. Before the students are put into their respective
breakout rooms, the teacher will tell first that the students must list down five (5) examples
of actions which exemplifies potential energy in the span of 2 minutes (individual task).
After 2 minutes, the students will now be put into their respective breakout rooms and
brainstorm ideas as to which of their examples will be used in the charades. They must
come up with 10 examples.
Group 1 will perform the charades first while Group 2 will be the one to guess. After Group
1’s turn, Group 2 will now be the one to perform the charades and let Group 1 guess the
actions. The group who that has the greatest number of guess will be declared as winner.
The occurrence of the pandemic has put a lot of human activities into a
halt. Many plans if not being cancelled, were put into a total stop. Flights inside or
outside the country is are no longer allowed, going to malls are also prohibited.
Jobs and swimming activities during the summer were also paused and many of
us are left with no choice but to stay at home.
Directions: Tell whether the given examples are showing a Potential or Kinetic
Energy. Write PE for Potential Energy and KE for Kinetic Energy.
For items 6-15: Solve the following word problem using the GRESA method.
Given:
mass = 0.25kg
h = 13m
g = 9.8m/s2
Required: PE?
Equation: PE = mgh
Solution:
PE = (0.25kg)(9.8m/s2)(13m)
PE = 31.85J
