Patent Title
Method and Apparatus for the installation of under-mount vanity top bathroom
and kitchen sinks – herein referred to as “SinkSupport”.

Abstract
This patent proposes a new and useful, tamperproof self supporting apparatus,
which functions as an overnight support for the installation of under-mount vanity top
bathroom and kitchen sinks. SinkSupport will have inherent durability, safety, strength,
and ease of application. It will significantly reduce the time and difficulty associated with
the installation of under-mount vanity top sinks. SinkSupport will eliminate the need to
construct support beams from other materials such as wood and cement blocks – thus
reducing material waste.
SinkSupport will be constructed from interlocking high strength stainless
aluminum parts, rubber and contain built-in safety features. SinkSupport will be
lightweight by design and manufactured to fit the majority of common one or two sink
granite and marble counter top configurations.

Field of Invention
Construction – under mount vanity top sink installation

Background

Current Method(s):

Though there are numerous methods utilized in the installation of under-mount

vanity top sinks, one general requirement is a support structure to facilitate the drying of
the silicon used to attach the sink to the vanity top. Currently used support structures
involve the use of stacked bricks / blocks or strips of wood cut to length to prop up the
sink. This practice not only adds additional time to the installation of under-mount sinks,
but also wastes valuable construction materials in the process (strips of wood cut to
length which may not be able to be used for anything else and become scrap).

In summary, the steps involved are:

1. Add adhesive to the top of the sink and bottom of the under-mount
2. Make sure that sink holes lineup for proper pipe installation
3. Use strips of wood cut to length and/or stacked blocks to support sink
4. Seal with silicone
5. Give about 24hrs for drying before removing props

SinkSupport Method:
As opposed to currently used methods, SinkSupport will eliminate the
waste of valuable construction materials. It will also safeguard against sabotage
by removing the props that hold up the sink during the drying period.
Basic Steps for using SinkSupport:
The following steps will illustrate the expected use of SinkSupport:
Step 1: Place the Cross/Support Bar on the vanity across the sink cut-out
Step 2: Raise the sink inserting the vertical tube of the SinkSupport into the drain
hole of the sink
Step 3: Extend the rubber “T” bars which support the bottom of the sink
Step 4: Apply adhesive to the top of the sink and the bottom of the vanity top
Step 5: Use the unique hex key to slowly raise the sink until it is firmly sealed
with the bottom of the vanity (adjust the position of the cross/support bar
if necessary to maintain/ensure proper alignment)
Step 6: Remove hex key and allow about 24 hrs of tamper-proof drying
