End of Game

Win
Games may be won in the following ways:

Checkmate - If a player's king is placed in check and there is no legal move that
player can make to escape from the check, then the king is said to be checkmated,
the game ends, and that player loses

Resignation – Both players may resign at any time and their opponent wins the
game. This normally happens when the player believes he or she is very likely to lose
the game. It is usually considered poor etiquette to play on in a truly hopeless
position, and for this reason high level games rarely end with a checkmate.
