Scoring
This tournament will follow the scoring outlined in the Matched Play Guide released by Games
Workshop. The winner will be the player with the highest number of Tournament Points. The first
tiebreaker will be the Victory Point margin. The second tiebreaker will be the total number of
Victory Points.
Prizes
The first-, second-, and third-place players will get store credit at Gajo games. Additionally, each
player in the tournament will be entered into a raffle to choose something from the prize table.
Each player gets one ticket for the raffle…
Game Duration
Each round of the Scouring of Sandy will last one hour and forty-five minutes. Players will
receive regular time updates at or around 45 minutes remaining, 15 minutes remaining, and 5
minutes remaining. The game will end immediately when the time is called. When the time is
called, players will immediately put dice and models down and tally the victory points as they
currently stand according to the rules for the scenario. Players will NOT finish the current turn,

Army Building
Armies must be built according to the rules, errata, and FAQs provided for Middle Earth Strategy
Battle Game. We encourage participants to build armies that they find fun and interesting to play
and will promote a spirit of good sportsmanship and happy competition.
The following rules will apply to building each player’s army list:
● Each player’s army list may be a legendary legion, a single (pure) army list, or a
historical or convenient alliance (so long as they follow the restrictions for allying in the
rules and the FAQs). Impossible (red) alliances will not be permitted at this tournament.
● Players may use third-party miniatures. This includes 3D-printed models as well as
models purchased from other vendors. These models must be clearly representative of
official models from MESBG, and they must be on appropriately sized bases with the
appropriate war gear. If there are any questions about whether or not your models fit this
requirement, you may email pictures and questions to utahsbg.gg@gmail.com.
● Players may use converted miniatures. This includes conversions done using third-party
miniatures or bits. If there are any questions about whether or not your conversions are
appropriate, you may email pictures and questions to utahsbg.gg@gmail.com.
● Models do not have to be painted, though we highly encourage players to paint and
base models to a tabletop standard.
For any converted, 3D printed, or other unofficial model entry, we expect players to make a
good-faith effort to use models that match the themes and general aesthetic of The Middle Earth
Strategy Battle Game.
Your army’s leader, warbands, allied contingents, and all added wargear must be specified and
clear in your submitted army list.

Game/Rules Disputes
All rules disputes will be handled by the Tournament Organizer(s). All decisions by the
Tournament Organizer(s) are FINAL and may not be overridden, even by the official Games
Workshop rules.
● Cheating is treated with a ZERO tolerance policy. Any participant caught cheating will be
immediately disqualified and may be banned from future community events.
● Players and guests may not in any way attempt to assist or aid another player on a
different table (i.e. kibitzing, providing tactical or strategic advice). First offenders will
automatically forfeit the current round. Repeat offenders will be immediately disqualified
and banned from all Middle-earth events.
