Dana Biosphere notes:

Dana biosphere is one of Jordan’s largest nature reserve, as it covers 320 square
Kilometer of spectacular mountains and wadis along the face of the Great Rift
Valley.
As it is set between the Scorching sand dunes in the west to cool mountaintops in
the east. Holding and containing within the biosphere reserve a house for the
great variety of wildlife. Including plants and animals that have the characteristics
of the true desert, creating a meeting point between the Mediterranean forests
and the dry plains of Russia.

It is also considered to be a melting pot between three continents: Europe, Africa,


and Asia. Combining many species of animals and plants, creating a unique
natural community in a single area, that simply contains so far, a total of 700
plant species, 190 bird species, 37 mammal species, 36 reptile species, 25 of them
are endangered, including the Sand cat, Syrian wolf, and the Spiny Tailed Lizard.

The Dana village area, overlooking the scenic Wadi Dana, has been occupied since
about 4,000 BC. Beside being a meeting point between different continents,
Archaeological evidences indicates 4 different civilizations being the Paleolithic,
Egyptian, Nabatean, and Roman. As the fertile soil, the water springs, and the
strategic location, being a treasure for such old civilizations.
