Enhanced Satellite Communications Project – Polar (ESCP-P)
– SSE #45, #84, #85 & #86
PROJECT SCOPE:
NEXT STEPS:
NEXT STEPS:
PROJECT SCOPE:
• To provide two ground stations and a processing facility to exploit the upcoming
RADARSAT Constellation Mission (RCM). PE2 will primarily use RCM imagery
provide maritime domain awareness. PE2 will also provide imagery for
intelligence purposes.
NEXT STEPS:
• To provide two ground stations in Canada (AB and NL) and 22 MEOSAR
repeaters for implementation on the US GPS III satellite constellation. This will
augment ground stations and space segment repeaters provided by other Parties
and Participants of the international COSPAS-SARSAT Programme
NEXT STEPS:
• Project Cost
• $300M
Defence Enhanced Surveillance from Space Project (DESS-P)
– SSE #45, #67, #68 & #85
PROJECT SCOPE:
• To ensure the long-term provision of active wide area surveillance and enhance
intelligence capabilities from space, beyond those provided by the RADARSAT
Constellation Mission (RCM), whose design life will be met in 2026.
NEXT STEPS:
• Gain Defence Capability Board project approval to begin Options Analysis (June
2019), including project High Level Mandatory Requirements
• Determine synergies and distinct requirements with the Earth Observation – Data
Continuity (EO-DC) project being led by the Canadian Space Agency on behalf of
the GC
• Preliminary Estimate
• Total Project Value - More than $1.5B
Surveillance from Space 2 (SofS 2)
– SSE #45, #83, #84, #85 & #86
PROJECT SCOPE:
• To enable the observation of space objects and the accurate assessment of their
orbital positions. SofS 2 will enable the protection and defence of Canadian and
allied space assets by contributing to the U.S. Department of Defense Space
Surveillance Network and further enhancing allied Space Situational Awareness.
