Pass Rules

Duty Pass
To perform journey while on duty.
a) Metal Pass:
b) i) Gold Pass: Issued by Railway Board to;
c) Chairman - Railway Board,
d) Financial commissioner,
e) Members of Railway Board,
f) GMs’ of Indian Railways & Production units and
g) Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety.

It entitles the holder to travel over Indian Railways


with family members in First AC
Duty Pass

Metal Pass:
ii) Silver Pass: Issued by Railway Board to;
All Senior Administrative Grade Officers,

It entitles the holder to travel over Indian


Railways with family members in First AC
Duty Pass

Metal Pass:
ii) Bronze Pass: Issued by Zonal Railways
to the Officer of the Zonal Railways.

It entitles the holder to travel in the Zonal


Railway jurisdiction.
Duty Pass

Card Pass:
Issued to all Group ‘C’ & ‘D’ employees who
are required to travel frequently.
The class of the pass is as per the eligibility
in the Privilege account.
Cheque Pass:
Issued to the staff to travel on duty
occasionally.
Privilege Pass

Issued to all serving employees.


Group ‘A’ & ‘B’:
• First A Pass is issued to the Officer.
• White in colour.
• Entitled for 6 sets passes & 4 sets of PTOs’
per year.
• One attendant is permitted to travel in II
class.
Privilege Pass

Group ‘C’ :
• One set of pass for first 5 years of service.
• 3 sets per year after 5 years of service.
• Those in 6500-10500 drawing a basic of Rs.7600
or above entitled for 1st Class pass (Green Colour).
• Those in scale of pay of Rs.5000-8000 and above
drawing a basic of Rs.7250 or above but less than
Rs.7600 are entitled for II A passes (Yellow
colour). Entitled to travel in III AC.
• All others will be issued with II class (Pink colour)
Privilege Pass

Group ‘D’ :
• One set of pass for first 5 years of service.
• 3 sets per year after 5 years of service.
• Entitled for IInd Sleeper class.
Dependents:

Dependents:
• Widow mother, unmarried sister, scholar brother,
widow sister etc are called as dependents.
• If included in the pass, maximum number of
persons permitted to be included in the pass are
5.
• Son of above 21 years can be permitted to be
included if he is a bonafide student of a
recognised educational institution.
Validity:

• The validity period of the privilege pass is 5


months for both onward & return journey.
• If husband & wife are both employed in
railways, passes are granted to both of
them on each others account.
School Pass

• Issued to the ward or dependent student member


of the family.
• Should produce certificate from school or college
authorities.
• Issued when the student is studying away from
the headquarters of the railway servant.
• Issued from the place of the institution to the
place of the residence of either of the parent
when the vacation is more than 3 days.
• 3 sets of passes are issued to every child in a
calendar year.
• A parent or guardian may be included in the pass.
Post Retirement Pass

• Issued to the employee and his family after


his retirement from service.
• The class of pass is the class which he was
enjoying while in service.
• The No of passes entitled depends on the
number of completed years of service.

Residential Card Pass

• Issued to the employee to commute to


the place of work from the residence.
• The section in which the pass could be
issued is declared by the railway board.
• No attendant is allowed in RC Pass.
Special Passes

• May be Issued to the family members or


dependent relatives on;
• medical ground,
• for scouts activities,
• on sports account,
• to attend courts,
• to attend enquiry,
• to attend PNM/FNM meeting as a member of
the union,
• to staff of co-op societies/banks,,
• to coolie porters.
