What would be your reaction if someone of your same sex falls in love with you?

Homosexuality is a topic that has been controversial over the years, for a long time

being homosexual was a topic of discussion and was associated with a mental illness, but

thanks to the struggle for their rights, now it has been achieved that in different countries

around the world that they accepted certain rules in favor of their civil interests.

People since ancient times have made the mistake of confusing the sexual orientation of

a person with their intellectual and cognitive capacity, without knowing that many of the

great painters, sculptors, scientists, etc., have been homosexual. A great example of this is

Leonardo da Vinci who, regardless of being attracted to people of the same sex, was a

painter, anatomist, architect, botanist, writer, philosopher, among many other professions,

this is why you must to take into account that a person's sexual orientation only refers to

their identity and that should not be stereotyped as a person with mental disabilities.

Even though currently there is more acceptance of any sexual orientation and every day

more people join the support of the LGBT community, there are still people who react in an

incorrect or violent way to homosexual people, this is even more so when a person of the

same sex manifests its attraction towards him. These people are called homophobic, they

are those who do not tolerate any act of affection on the part of same-sex couples and react

negatively, usually discriminating against them and attacking them verbally and

psychologically, although in many cases there is also physical violence.

Despite the fact that in most countries of the East it is not accepted that homosexuality is

proper to human identity and death penalty is given for this, violent acts against people with

different sexual orientation to ours should not be allowed, we must understand that we all

deserve the same rights as human beings, we must all be treated equally and without any
act that harms our life. Feelings, love and sexuality are personal things that as long as they

do not affect other people, it must be expressed with due respect, intimacy and freedom.

According to the sociologist Carlos Romero Villar "Homosexuality is a tag, a category

that we have invented or developed, there are those who have shaped themselves better in

society and are publicly accepted". According to the above, it is extremely important that

we stop discriminating against people who have interests and attractions different from

ours, we should not think that they belong to a different group, we are all the same. A clear

example of this is when a person discovers that his friend of the same sex, is homosexual

and reacts badly when he feels that his friend likes him that is why he starts to move him

from his social circle and his group of friends until he disappears him from his life simply

because of his sexual orientation.
