Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems, such as those connected

with reality, existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. Philosophy is distinguished

from other ways of addressing such problems by its critical, generally systematic approach and its
reliance on rational argument. The word "philosophy" comes from the Ancient Greek (philosophia),
which literally means "love of wisdom"

fields of knowledge; and

 Peter A. Angeles (1981) Dictionary to Philosophy New York: Barnes & Noble Books, p.

philosophy are as diverse as philosophers are. Then he gave his subsequent list of five
"basic definitions" of "attempts".

 An art, which has an aim to achieve the beauty, is called a philosophy or in the
absolute sense it is named wisdom.
