Dc Motor :-

1. Eqatron Of iput & outpower of dc motor

2. List Out 5 working part of a motor

Armature Winding = Produce Magnetie field

Brush = Conect supply with armature properly
Field winding = produce magnetic field
commutator = to insure one directiom of current in armature
shaft = drive shaft transfers torque from motor

3. Working princple of a dc motor

when a current carrying conductor is placed in a uniform magnetic field, a force will be set up on the
conductor. To determine to directron using the fleming’s left hand rule.

4. Connection diagram / circuit

5. 2 characteristrcs of dc series motor
- The higest starting torque
- when torque ^, ths speed will ( down ) significantly

6. 2 characterstics of dc shunt motor

- constant speed
-the lowest start torque

7. Factors that affect speed

-back EMF
-magnetic flux density

8. Metheds to control speed of dc shunt motor

-Armature control method
-Field Control Method
9. How to Reverse the totaatron of dc series motor?

Change the polarity of armature change the polarity of field

// Compound Motor //

Dc Generator

1. Equation of input & output power of DC generator

2. Briefly explain what is back EMF?

Eb = (Voltage)
Because of the induction; EMF is produced
Back EMF is voltage induced which will always oppose the change in magnetic field which
produce it

3. 2 types of DC Generator
- Self exited
-Separately excited

4. Draw the connection diagram with load for DC generator in Q2

5. List down 2 characteristic of DC series and DC Shunt Generator.

DC Series – When load increase, voltage also increases until one point it will dropdown.
(Alternative Reaction)

DC Shunt – When the speed decrease, the voltage will also decrease significantly

6. What are the factors that affect the generated voltage, Ug of DC Generator?

The length of conductor

The strength of magnetic field

The rate of change

7. . Below shows data taken during an experiment of DC generator

150V 0.5A
2000rpm 0.6Nm
Working principle of DC generators

To get a steady current it is necessary to increase thepulse produced in the armature; average
value is constant.
// a conductor is placed in a varying magnetic field (OR a conductor is moved in a
magnetic field), an emf (electromotive force) gets induced in the conductor.

2 ways to increase the number pulse;

a) Increase the numbers of poles

b) Increase the number of separate coils in the armature
