What is the relevance of knowing history in the context of 21st century Philippines?

Knowing the Philippine history is important to us to have to understand and expand our
knowledge about the things that happened in the past for us to appreciate the future and present
situation of the country. If we able to understand how and what is the situation of the country before,
and to know how the Filipino people sacrifice their life for the country. But if we study the successes and
failure of the past, we can learn from the mistakes, and we can change our present and future.

Philippine History is extremely important because we learn different aspects of how people
historically lived. We get different perspectives on how they live, their culture, their etiquette, their
ways of earning a living, their food, their arts, their education, their problems and challenges, the form
of government governance.

The history of the Philippines is relevant in our society in the present time. Knowing history
provides us with a sense of identity and allows us to appreciate how our country came to be. In
imparting nationalism and culture. History is significant particularly to the young once.

Through Philippine History, we've learned and observed the beginning and development of our
country, It strengthens our sense of nationalism, It develops our national identity and prevents colonial
mentality, Learning our history reminds us that we are very rich in resources, We have learned a way to
fight, defend ourselves and protect our territory from colonizers, History is a guide of each Filipino for
present and future plans, we appreciate the effort and achievement of Filipino heroes. Having a strong
understanding of what has happened on our past helps us to have an informed understanding of what is
current situation. If someone does not know history, then he/she is missing something important in
her/his life.
