Find the coordinates of the foci, the ends of the axes, and the ends of each latus rectum in problems.
From this information sketch the curves (x²/ 169) + (y²/144)=1

Solution:

(x²/169) + (y²/144) = 1..... (1)

(x²/a²) + (y²/b²) =1..... (2)

Comparing (1)&(2)

a² = 169 | a = 13

b² = 144 | b = 12

We know that c² = a² - b²

c²= 13² - 12²

c²= 169 - 144

c =5

Coordinates of foci = (+/- a, 0) = (+/- 5,0)

= (5,0) & (-5,0)

Vertices = (+/- a, 0) = (+/- 13, 0)

= (13,0) & (-13,0)

Lenght of major axis = 2a = 2 x 13 = 26

Lenght of minor axis = 2b = 2 x 12 = 24

Latus rectum = (2b²/a) = (2.144/13) = 288/13

Find the coordinates of the foci, the ends of the axes, and the ends of each latus rectum in problems.
From this information sketch the curves (y²/25) + (x²/16) = 1

Solution:

(y²/25) + (x²/16) = 1..... (1)

(x²/a²) + (y²/b²) =1..... (2)

Comparing (1)&(2)

a² = 16 | a = 4

b² = 25 | b = 5

We know that c² = a² - b²

c²= 4² - 5²

c²= 16 - 25

c =3

Coordinates of foci = (+/- c, 0) = (+/- 3,0)

= (3,0) & (-3,0)

Vertices = (+/- a, 0) = (+/- 4, 0)

= (4,0) & (-4,0)

Lenght of major axis = 2a = 2 x 4 = 8

Lenght of minor axis = 2b = 2 x 5 = 10

Latus rectum = (2b²/a) = (2.25/4) = 25/2

Write the equations of the ellipses whose axes coincide with the coordinate axes, and which satisfy the
conditions given in problem Focus (2,0) ; vertex (5,0)

Solution :

Focus; (0,2) & (0,-2)

Sb - y sebagai sumbu panjang (a<b) dalam hal ini c = 2.

Vertex; v = y = b/e = 5 | b = 5e.... (I)

c = be = 2 = 2 | e= 2/b.... (II)

b = 5e; b = 5 (2/b)

b² = 10

a² = b² = - c²

a² = 10-4 = 6 || (x²/6) + (y²/10) = 1
