First Baptist Church

Discover the Love of Christ

Frostproof, Florida October 2020

Dear Church Family,

It is hard to believe that we are beginning the month of October. The

weather is not telling me that, but rather it is the calendar and all the
pumpkin spice food products that are rolling out. And I must admit I
am a sucker for anything pumpkin.
It has been a challenging summer given all the restrictions and
especially as it relates to church and ministry because of the things
we could not do. Even as we begin to try and start some of our
ministries, my word to the ministry team leaders (church council) was-
“keep it simple”. In fact it is a good time to make some evaluations
as to what is important, and what our focus needs to be in the coming
months. People behind masks still need Jesus! The Great
Commission is still in vogue. That and ministry to others has to be
front and center. We just have to decide which methods we can safely
practice and then do it. I understand that some people are not
attending worship because of underlying health issues or fear. You
have to do what you feel comfortable with, but for some of you, you
need to put on a mask and join us on Sunday mornings. We are still
commanded to gather and worship.
We will be beginning AWANA on October 7, 6:30-7:30 p.m. with some Inside this issue:
restrictions in place. Please pray for this ministry to our children,
especially leaders Clay and Julie Brantley and others who will help. If
you would like to be involved, see the Brantley’s or call the church 1
Pastor’s Remarks
office. We will help you connect with them.
The presidential election is of utmost importance because it will affect Awana 2
Student Refuge
the direction our nation goes in the future. Look at the platforms of the Drive Thru Trunk or Treat
two parties, what the candidates stand for, and please get out to vote
or mail your ballot in on time. This is critical that God’s people vote.
